Seeing as the old bumped threads were also concerning this feature [bump thread]
I'll just add this to keep it in public view,

and ask - how long does it take before these suggestions are accepted or dumped ?

I still say that to Dump the Bump would be the quickest way to seal this particular problem, I AM aware that there are other ways to play the fool with the front page, but this one IS being used NOW.

Whilst it is not the most elegant solution, it is certainly the simplest. In all honesty I only think I have seen the bump feature used "properly" a couple of times whilst I have been here.

As you have elegantly demonstrated with your post, you can politely bring stuff back into focus without upsetting anyone, and I doubt if I have seen the "impatient" post more than half a dozen times?

Unfortunately, it is difficult to defend a public site 24/7 against a determined assailant, but there is no point in making it easy for them?

Difficult, yes.. it's even annoying. TheSpec obviously doesn't have that much time on his hand thus he is "determined".. but yeah, don't make it easy for him. There are moderators who can ban and users who can use the AP system to self-moderate.. just don't abuse it.
