Well, I've responded to 10 jobs now in the UK, Denmark, Belgium, Ireland, and Switzerland.
Half have blown me off... four said that sponsorship is an issue... the Swiss job replied to me with a friendly supplemental questionare with many questions specific to my CV... unfortunately one of those questions was "How would you rate your German and French skills?" (D'oh!)
I guess this is the consequence of making a point to have no IT friends. ;)
cheers,

I have yet to find any Canadian jobs that seem appropriate AND don't say "Local candidates only" or something to that effect.
I swear this stuff about an IT security shortage is all lies.

Hi catch,
It's an employers marketplace...too few jobs and too many candidates...puts the power squarely in their hands...
when I first started out working in the early 70's it was an employee's market...too many jobs not enough people...h@ll they were importing people to fill positions in a big immigration push.
new day...new rules.
Eg ;)

There are 'alledgedly' lots of jobs but employers do seem to be looking for increasingly specific skill sets. You must have MCSE, Java, Health and saftey quals and speak Lithuanian etc etc.
Plus the initial sifting of applications is done by and HR robot who looks for keywords only. If you don't mention x,y,z and mention a,b,c,d insted you go in the trash no matter how good or relevant a,b,c,d would be. The HR robot will not have any experience of the job advertised and will probably not understand your CV.
Tis very silly.
I quite fancy NZ myself, after I get my CISSP (CLAS maybe).
