Okay, so if there is an ID'er whose God was it that did it, was it the christian one, the Buddhist, or Allah, or any number of tribal God's that still exist today, whose God is going to take the credit for this????
Every faith on this planet believe's his/her God is the correct one,(OT, why do you think we have this sh*t going on with christians and muslims), when two countries went to war, each side would pray to their God for victory, and go knowing that their God was the bigger one (my dad can beat your dad).
The universe is so large (try imagining the size in your head, you can't there are no borders) to think that one being is going around planting seeds to create civilisations is fairly naive IMHO, this planet is a lot older then 6,000 yrs (carbon dating is an exact science), the sun is incredibly old.
I strongly believe that "religion" per se, be removed from Politics and schoolrooms as well as the workplace (unless you work in a church :p ) it's like when a couple of friends go out for night on the town, the golden rule is "no politics, no religion" is to be talked about, because everyone has a different side to the debate, and the drunker you get the more self rightous you become, good ingredients for a punch up.
I believe in cold hard facts, not emotional ones, if the facts are presented to me in an open minded and straighforward way instead of "preaching" it to me, I will go with the former everytime.

Evolution can NOT be proven by fact either, so why is it taught in a place of education? Natural selection is science (supported by facts). Genetics and how we end up with the traits we have is science (supported by facts). The theory of evolution is not.
He's absolutely right. I don't even feel bad conceding that. I think that anyone who puts forward an idea of how the universe came to be as factual is a moron.
Despite what you would say, there is compelling evidence on either side, otherwise it would not be an issue. I believe, as always, that it comes down to the personal choice of either believing in matter that has always existed or some being that has always existed that at some point brought matter into existence.
I choose to adhere to this line of thought for my own reasons. Considering that I need to be writing two papers and studying for finals, I will have to come back to this discussion later. I apologize for not being able to respond in full right now.

pleasant to the taste, with no god to meddle in your kinky
sex life, or other "sinful" pursuits. People who believe in god
do so because they have been compelled to, because the
almighty insists. Those who do not believe in him, well, he didn't care
about them anyway. They were only created to populate hell.

No one puts a gun to your head or twists your arm into believing there is a "God", we all have free thought that's what seperates us from the rest of the animals (hockey players), the people who blindly follow are called sheep, if you think Jim and Tammy Faye Baker, or Jerry Falwell (blech) or Jimmy Swaggart are pillars of society in the Church Community, then by "design" someone left out their intelligence???

People seem to think "Evolution" is like changing the channel on the TV, it's instantaneous, it happens quickly. Evolution takes time and where the planet is considered a few billion years old, I can very well imagine the Homosapiens as evolving over that time, and we should be lucky because if that big asteroid hadn't of wiped out the dinosaurs, they would have stayed the dominant species, and we may have all looked like Joan Rivers :D
