Microsoft not using Windows much on critical tasks.

I don't recall ever saying this proves anything was "better" but the way you take what I say and what some others here say I should have just made the assumption. I make a thread showing an interview and you turn it into the same thing every other thread that has this topic...

How the hell you took this as me saying "MS says Unix is better because they use it here and here and here" is beyond me.

Now, in this thread I've yet to see one person respond why it's OK for someone to bash the crap out of anything Unix, but when anyone says a word about Windows that is just bashing? Or ignorance? And in the water does something thread you didn't answer that either. I asked you three times what my "other options" were and you didn't reply. I asked two more times and you quit responding.

Then here I point out how Microsoft bashes the **** out of Unix but uses it and suddenly it's turned into whos Os is better. Said this to many times already.... This is NOT "My OS" but you've turned it into that and then me having to go through deleting replys which add nothing but simply say same old ****....

If you enjoy everything on the front page as tech support with no real discussion of anything fine. But any time someone starts ANY thread with potential like 12 replies come in saying this is the "same old".... No, if my thread said "I can't get somethingto work" THAT would be same old same old.

All the bithcing on AO how nothing relates to network security or at least computing in general with no "help me set up a browser" or something similar. Lol, how in the hell is anyone going to discuss anything when there are a handful of people who think it's something else and reply saying so ruining a chance for discussion. You people are so damn afraid to talk about Operating Systems because of the chance you might say something about Microsoft someone else thinks is bashing.... This forum is called Operating Systems, yet the only threads here are "can't install this" and "This didn't work", no discussions..

This again is "Operating systems" yet NOTHING here has a thing to do with them other than tech support. Can't talk about anything to do with actual OSs because that's bashing when someone doesn't agree.. A few threads that are nailed have something to do with them, but looking over the rest of the threads in here, VERY few are on topic.

A few on installing Linux or getting it online, which I wrote tutorials for then got told it's all I write about.... Then a few people aksing questions, but NO discussions at all in the discussion board. Nothing. Why is that? Because anyone who tries to start one about OSs get flamed to ****. Why? Because people like to reply saying "Its the same **** about who's OS is better".....

It rarely is that, but it doesn't matter because people read things half asses and reply saying "I'm tired of this bullshit it's overdone"...

Well if everyone is tired of discussion about OSs why even allow this baord to continue? Hell half the posts in here could be put in a new forum, we can call it "Tech support".

You use what you prefer and I use what I prefer which is damn near every Os on the planet.

Two things are going to happen now:

You'll reply taking what I said completely off topic or you'll read it the wrong way saying I'm young and stupid and ignorant nd have no clue what I'm talking about, OR, this thread dies and yet another chance to discuss ANYTHING on topic, goes away so some jack ass can start a thread asking for help because he'd rather read a post than a book.

How can I say one of those two are going to happen? easy, every thread I've ever started about this turns into that.

You're all afraid to discusshow you feel about anything because someone might say you're bashing.

And as you rightly pointed out Open Source is Linux only. The term was coined by some Linux people who wanted something to say other than free software because free to some people implies cheap. So they made the term Open Source. BSD could be called that but Open Source was mainly used for Linux and free software. BSD is BSD, it's an OS, it's a software pack and it's a license.

Well, I don't have a problem with this personally. It is what we call "horses for courses" over here.

I have worked in many environments where both Unix and Windows were used. Generally you would see Unix stuff on the server side or in special applications areas like design. Similarly the advertising/marketing types would use AppleMacs. Hell, they even might have had a mainframe lurking around somewhere?

Unless you are a stockholder in "Doctor Feelgood's snake oil" you get what does the job for you best?...................I see no reason why a major corporation like Microsoft should be any different.

It is rather like buying a Bentley sports car..........it will be delivered in a volvo or mercedes or whatever truck?

Microsoft are a major player, but they aren't the only team in the league, and I don't recall them ever suggesting that.

I certainly don't find it remarkable that MS use other products, everyone else does?

gore - why do you perpetuate the OS Holy Wars? I see you do this a lot, not that I have a real problem with it, but I am wondering /why/ you do it. Are you that insecure about *nix that you have to attack Windows/MS at every turn? Do you honestly think that companies that are already running mission critical apps on a *nix platform are going to up and switch just because Redmond tells them that their OS is "better"?

I'm not going to bother weighing in on which I think is "better", as I honestly think they both have their places (both in the server world and workstation world). I just wanted to ask you why it is that I constantly see you bagging on MS, because it looks almost like an inferiority complex to an outsider ;)

That's funny considering one guy here once called me a Microsoft whore because he was bashing windows. Don't remember that do you? Neither does anyone else it seems. I don't bash them. Since no one wants to remember the day I was callled that how about Pooh Sun Tzu? He always said Windows was great, he's also a dear friend of mine. How can he somehow see beyond the jokes and posts and no one else can?

All my windows software here which is a **** load, is all paid for by me. Nothing is pirated. Yet I hate Windows. Or Microsoft depending on which closet zealot is speaking. (Not saying you're a closet zealot, I don't know you).

And this isn't a Holy War on OSs, that's just what Tiger Shark wants you to believe. I think my post above shows exactly what this was. Read it.

meh, gore I'm not going off of what someone else has said. I'm going off of my own eyes. I have been around for a long time, longer than that March 03 tag says as this is my third iteration of an ID on here ;)

I have seen you relentlessly bash MS on a fairly regular basis. No I won't bother to post examples because I have nothing to prove to anyone else on here. I was asking /why/ you do it, not /if/ you do it ;)

And I remember Pooh, but I don't recall that particular post.

So as to being a closet zealot or not... I don't think I am. Right now I'm typing this on a XP machine, but I have an Ubuntu machine next to it, two Solaris boxes right next to that and my laptop is being built out with Fedora as we speak. I use most of the major OSs on a daily basis and as I said before, they all have their uses.

Please re-read, I said you weren't a zealot.

As to why? Again, read the posts here. I said it before, no one cares a **** at all if anyone bashes Unix or Linux, but when someone says something not friendly about Windows, they are attacked. When I first started here you were allowed to say things and you could even post Microsoft jokes in tech humor. you do that now and be negged into banination. No one has answered yet why that is. Why People are alloud to bash everything as long as it isn't Microsoft.
