Hacker Wanted

Negative's response seems OK to me. This is a somewhat strange situation so has not been met with a hasty response?

If you "own" a website and someone steals it from you, are you legally entitled to recover your property? I think that all Paul was asking for was a "repo man" or "baliff"?

Naturally the answers to all this depend on exactly where you live?

My personal view was that although the original suggestion/request was not the best way to go; the thread was still a good one as it raises interesting legal questions.

Just my thoughts :)

This is such a grey area......who owns the property if you post a picture of yourself public...does it become public property....for anyone to do what ever they what with....???

There has to be some avenue the OP can take without resorting to illegal activites.....and I for one am curious what they are???

First of all I'm sorry for you, if this is legit. Secondly arent you taking the same (illigal) route that he/she took (in a way) ?

I'm sorry that I cant help much. But I think most members will show you LEGAL way of speeding up the procedure.

Funny thing is I hadn't even thought about the website in months and was willing to go no further until he brought it all to my attention. I wouldn't even be on this forum if he had not tried to solicit a hacker. Guess I'll have to update the website now with all the info, and there's lots of it.

Three points:

1. The domain has lapsed ownership and therefore was available to anybody, so I bought it.
2. The picture is available through public access (not on the web). Is it copyrighted?
3. The truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. What's wrong with that?

So Paul...I would suggest you engage a lawyer...get to the bottom of it....

slander slan-der - noun - a malicious, false, and defamatory statement or report

libel li-bel - law - anything that is defamatory or that maliciously or damagingly misrepresents.

Neither of those apply when it's the truth and can be backed up with public records.

Would your lawyer be interested in seeing the attachment one of his previous lawyers put on him for $15,000 that took 13 months to discharge?

Not to mention that HE was soliciting for a FEDERAL crime and someone did try to hack the website a few days later.

And if the site was hacked....report it to your ISP....FBI\RCMP and whom everelse and then show this thread......and all your proof....

From the way the site is designed, it does look shady. Rather then looking like a unified effort against you (if you have done something wrong). Looks more like work of a 14 year old AOL 1337..

just my thoughts on the entire issue. Your PIC is off the site which means you have complained.

Okay, I didnt read the other 3 posts before this one so I wrote this post.. Anyway I've not deleted or edited the first writting of the post because I think this guy (truthteller) is seriously trying to ruin this guys public image.

Ok, ok. From my point of view, if the domain lapsed then it's fair play to buy it (since it's just a name - a name that many people probably share). Apart from that, there doesn't actually appear to be anything on the site (all the pages are the same as far as I can see) - certainly not anything that could be considered libel.

From what I've read so far, it sounds like the original poster is dodgy in some way. Whatever the case, he doesn't sound like someone I'd be inclined the help. And I have to agree with the AOL 1337 comment about the creator of the website.

[edit] Could this all be a case of identity fraud with someone using the name Paul McMann and his picture for some kind of scam. If this is the case, it would be a lot simpler to clear this up outside court with the website creator, and attempt to do something about the identity fraud [/edit]

Geezz. this place has really gone downhill. I'm not one to join the legion of constant complainers, but if you want a discussion about the validity of taking a domain name that was registered to another user, or setting up a xxxxsucks.com type domain, delete this one, and start another thread.. Bottom line is the first post very blatantly is asking for somebody to do something that is illegal. If that isn't against the AUP then why do people constantly bitch and complain when high school kids come on here asking somebody how to hack their computer systems? Why don't we just start inviting the script kiddies and have who can hack the most website contests???
