When I got my job 2 months ago doing support calls for Panda Security/software in South Africa I was questioned why I havent written my exams blah blah blah.
I would also be interested in a structure to obtain certs.
For example.
1. Obtain A+
2. N+
3. S+
etc etc.
I also dont know what certs to go for exactly.
However to the original poster - get a student loan (that is wht we call them in SA) and pay it off.
I never graduated college. My certs are MCSE (NT ENTERPRISE) I guess it's still valid. Got that cert for a job.
I have Certs is Novel (Pre AD) I guess it's still good - again needed for job.
Citrix Certified, JD Edwards bunch of others
I was cisco certified CCNA but I think it's no longer valid.
It is my experience that degrees are worthless in the IT field. I have yet to meet a college grad (outside of software development) that could hit the ground running.
If I have 10 resumes for a network administrator - 9 are recient college grads and one is a high school drop out with 7 years of experance. The drop out is the first person on my call list.
