Lyne
Sorry, MsM, but the only Lyne I can find is some town *shrug* is that your whole name? or do you possibly have the meaning for it?
Well the ones from here are ones I've heard before. Lyne is a french variation of Lynn. ;) The one in bold is the more common definition.
LYNLEY
Meadow near the Brook
LYNN
From the name LINDA, also see Lynne
LYNNA
Waterfall
LYNNE
From the name LINDA; (Old English) cascade; pool below a waterfall; near a lake or pond. Also a variant of Irish Gaelic word Lann meaning house; church.
Bahiyya?
btw, thank you for your patience, I'll give you more greenies as soon as I can
Okay, well, you've given me the etymology, so I'm just gonna skip to the chase.
Your name would be *drumrolllllllllllll* Ailoundunenlanta.
It's long, but it would literally say 'pool beneath a fall of water'
It's the closest I could figure out.
Namaarie

lol im so what? my profile? my pic u mean? lol
how about my full name?
janette
Thanks for readin
Jan
Bahiyya -- from the Arabic 'beautiful'; Quenya kalwa, iirima, linda, vanya 'beautiful. So the name choices would be: Kalwe, Iirime, Linde, Vanye
Namaarie,
--Eruntalon
hey jinx haha my full name is janette tho, (french) haha not pronounced like janet tho USA IS GAY jk haha
Janette -- 'God Is Gracious' (just like John); so Eruntale
another gaelic challenge:
Aoibheann
(Irish Gealic btw)
I hope you're enjoying this...
Aoibheann -- 'fair form'; Quenya maar 'good', venie 'shape', so the name would possibly be Márvenie
Namaarie,
--Eruntalon
Airlia?
(Greek)
Sorry... unable to find any Quenya words for this one either. Where are you getting these names?
Namaarie,
--Eruntalon
I won't give my name as it is confidential info :D
I could use the translation for Scorpion though...
Google seaches with strings like "celtic names meanings", one site with names in about 93 languages is:
http://www.mikesart.net/giantglossarycom/ref/names/
Another:
http://www.behindthename.com/
Irish:
http://www.hylit.com/info/index.html
Airlia is from the first site
Scorp:
unable to find an equivolent to scorpion... sorry. I don't think they had scorpions in Middle Earth in the Third Age.
Kezil:
Airlia -- Greek 'ethereal'; closest Quenya I could find was il- 'not' and lunga 'heavy'. Therefore, the name might be something like Ilunga.
Namaarie,
--Eruntalon
A world without Scorpions isn't a world! Darn middlearth sucks! :D
Scorpion:
1. Any of various arachnids of the order Scorpionida, of warm dry regions, having a segmented body and an erectile tail tipped with a venomous sting.
2. Scorpion See Scorpius.
Scorpius:
A constellation in the Southern Hemisphere near Libra and Sagittarius, containing the bright red star Antares. Also called Scorpio, Scorpion.
(thank you dictionary.com)
Pick the most relevant pieces, such as "(eight legged) venomous tail" or "(bright) red star"
As for the next one I'll challenge you with, Edana.
I don't have time right now... I'll get to it either later tonite or tomorrow morning.
Til then!
Namaarie,
--Eruntalon

:pumpkin:
Okay...I'm almost sorry to ask with so many people having beat me here....but, what can you do with:
Wanda
Due to time constraints, from here on out it'll just be the translation, no entymology unless you specifically request it. Thanks :)
George -- Kememmótar
elite -- unable to find it in a brief search, I'll try again later
magician -- how bout wizard? Sairon
cloak -- [b/]kollo[/b]
Mark -- Carnildo
Scrap -- Elves spoke Sindarin and Quenya, not Latin. Sorry.
That's all I have time for right now. I'll do the rest after school today.

--Eruntalon

PhirePhreak:

lol...this post may haunt you for a while...have you thought of creating a program to do the translations for you?
Just a thought.
Scrap --> sorry, it WAS originally a typo, but I think it'll work fine for your Elven name :)
Kezil --> I'm an Elf! Didn't you know?
Faqt --> you think I have that sort of time on my hands? ;)
Mairu --> unable to find it in my brief search, remind me and I'll try again when I get more time.
Ash --> came up as either a short form of Ashley (Litsetaure) or from the Old English for ash tree... ash isn't used in Elven, but Alda is tree, so that's another option for the name.
Oscar --> Eruecco
Kay --> simply the short form of any name beginning with the letter K, so what's her full name?
Wanda --> comes from the word for Wend. The Wends were Slavic people, so this has no translation. Sorry! But at least you know the basic etymology :)
Jorge --> simply a Spanish/Portuguese form of George, so you'd be Kemmótar
Arazel --> another one I'll hafta come back to later. Just please remind me.
Aaron --> Nólaquen
Giselle --> Vando(n) or possibly Wéron
I'm out!
Namárie,
