While I was rooting for the steelers they should have given credit to the ture mvp for them the refs.
Thsi had to be the worst officiated playoffs and superbowl I have ever seen...every game had at least one play and useualy more then one that made it look like the fix was in.
bballad: I'd have to agree, I never saw a SuperBowl with so many questionable calls and even though I was for the Steelers, I have to say that the Seahawks might have gotten hosed on a few calls.. blah, what ya going to do though?

The ball was at the upper part of his shoulder until he then got hit and then it went back to his stomach. Got it on Tivo and video and it's pretty clear on replay.
I actually agree with you on the off pass interference call in the endzone against the Seahawk WR...but oh well.

Well doesn't the rule state that part of the ball has to be over the TD line when he LANDS not in the air?
Actually, the 6 or 7 points WOULD have mattered becaused they could've probably attempted a field goal instead of trying to run it in the 4rd quarter 3rd down and had a better chance at victory.Quote:

Athough I am a diehard Steelers fan, I have say our Steelers did not beat the Seahawks. Sure they put the points on the board and won, But...it was ugly and not the win I would have preferred.

naysayers - bad referee calls are part of the game. They're expected and accounted for. What matters is who has the Lombardi trophy and who doesn't. You don't see the Seahawks organization all over the news whining and lodging protests, and you certainly don't see the Steelers organization doing it either. Since they're not complaining, why should we?
Now as for the game itself, I'm pretty sure that neither team was playing up to their best. I'm disappointed in that, but still consider it a very good game as far as SuperBowls go.

3rd down = Each team has 4 "downs" to go 10 yards against the opposing teams. The 3rd down is the 3rd attempt.
4th quarter = there are 4 15 minute quarters to a game
Endzone = where you have to get to to make a TD
pass interference is pushing off of the player on the other team after 5 yards.
WR is a wide receiver

to the kicker's credit, it was a 50 yard FG attempt. Very few of those are ever made.
If you didn't watch the SuperBowl last night you missed:

A Censored performance by the Rolling Stones, which sucked because it was censored.
2 New Orleans artists (Doc, and Aaron Neville) and Aretha Franklin singing the national anthem. (Man you gotta love Aretha's pipes! they had to turn the sound way down when she kicked in).
A bunch of heartbreaker plays - interceptions, 'almost touchdowns', and 'shoulda been' fumbles....

I saw the headline I'm not even gonna read it, but I must've missed the second missed FG then when my TV turned off and I couldn't find the culprit (turns out the surge protector button sprung out)
But I'm confident they probably would've made that FG or at least they would've attempted it and had a chance at victory, whereas a FG with such a dephicit is pointless..

Even though the team I picked won, I would have to say the highlight was the opening where they introduced all of the former MVP's, I thought that was great, and typical Naimeth (some say he was drunk) looked as slushed as ever.......Lynn Swan being introduced in front of all those Steeler fans must have been a rush for him.... ;)
It was funny at the end of the game, there was Cowther walking to centrefield to shake Holmgrens hand and there was nobody there....Lol I guess it took a few minutes for Mike to calm down?
The two field goal attempts actually would have scored if he had of turned his kick in as they both had the distance....
The TD by Ben was questionable, on the replay you see him like a kid playing a dirty trick, looking around and whipping his arm across, just as the TV cameras zoomed in....:-)
As for the Stones, watching Mick trying to hop/skip along the ramps, made me nauseous,(reminded me of Chucky) and Keith p*ssed me off, cause I had him in a pool (at what point will Keith Richards finally lay down and die), because in reality he is allready dead,(must have a deal with someone) just too lazy to lay down..... :D

The fact remains, apart from all the "controversy", my Steelers won the game. Look at the scoreboard at the end of the game and shut up already.
The seahawks had way more than their share of opportunitities to win and they passed them up. We made the plays and we won the game get over and it pasy up.

Heh, yeah.. finally the calls went our way. I must admit, for quite some time it's been the Patriots Reign in terms of calls. You're right too, Korp.. the Seahawks DID have plenty of chances to come back and/or put the game away.. they had the momentum in the beggining afterall.
But then we stole it and massacred them..... :D

I think what really cost Seattle the entire game was the way they screwed up their play calling at the very end of the 1st half and game. It cost them in a big way and even the announcers were going on and on about it.
I'd say it was their horrible clock management. Holmgren should be kicking himself for that instead of crying about the officiating. I hate whiners.
I am not going to down talk about the steelers. I do enough of that within the day at school.

1. The steelers suck
2. They were handed that game by the officials

Sorry for the lateness. Just got back to civilization. I missed the opening and first quarter due to shuttling family from the airport. We had a death in the family.
Anyway, the Hawks could have played better, the officialling is as good as can be expected from the current crop of NFL zebras. Until the last quarter, it was a pretty good game. One of the better, closely matched SuperBowls of recent history.
Congrats to the Steelers. I hope this puts a shining cap on Bettis' career. He deserves to go out with a win.
