I'm stumped, guys. We've changed the domain so that all cookies should be deleted on log out. I dunno what else do to. All i can suggest is logging out again, and try dumping all cookies AND offline content. The problem with firefox is a different one from IE, I believe. I've seen it before with vbulletin forums and FF, they just don't play well together.
Hi,
It might be worth trying FF 2.0 which has just been released.
I am still using the old one. I have it set to keep cookies until I close FF. Remove files from the download manager on successful completion of download. And I have the cache set to 0Mb.
I don't know if you have it but I also use CrapCleaner to tidy up stray files and settings?
But he's having the problem in plain old vanilla IE, that one I can't understand. FF I know has issues logging out of vbulletin but not IE.
Just downloaded FF2.0 and installed. I will give it a go and see what happens, now I am off to dump cookies....AGAIN!Quote:

When I clean house, I clean everything JP. ;)Quote:

Is where you can get CrapCleaner ;)
I'm just at a loss as to what to try next. I might have to get some more ideas from without.
On another note, did something get removed from the main page (the second log-in item) or is it just me (again)?
Cheers:
No, i removed that. It was redundant and no reason to have it there. I didn't want it in the 1st place.
Hi Guys,
Back on the other issue, I am wondering if it isn't something to do with the cache. I am currently experimenting with increasing its size.
I am no expert on current browsers but I seem to recall that if the cache filled up it would cause problems?
Can't imagine it would log you out though. The cookie should keep you logged in no matter what, assuming you are allowing it and checking remember me.
Hi,
I don't know if this has any significance, but I was looking in the FF Disk Cache and I noticed several items relating to AO that have an expiry date of 1970-01-01 but their last amended date is current.
Well those would be cookies that were "deleted" by the delete script. That's how cookies work. THey're not physically deleted but rather have the exp. date set to some time in the past. So they're not really deleted but expired.
Ah! I see. Isn't 1970-01-01 the day the World began according to Microsoft? or is it Apple?
It rings a bell, and I have traditionally associated it with some sort of error condition................I stopped being a teenager that year:D
Back to the upgrade front, I have been using this box (ME & FF 1.5.7) for AO as I have other stuff going on in Win 2000 & XP. It certainly seems to be a lot better..............I haven't been booted out and I have left it for quite prolonged periods. I will try the other two later, then if anyone still has problems we can compare settings?
Cheers :)
Actually 1970-01-01 is the base for UNIX time. UNIX time is the number of seconds that have passed since January 1, 1970 at 00:00 GMT
That would be HUGELY helpful Nih, thanks. There's nothing left for us to try at this end so I feel it has to be some local difference in settings. Grazie.
Hi Joe,
I have had this one on for over 10 hours now (my ISP would like a certificate from you:D)
I have finished with Win 2000 and XP Pro for the weekend now so I am available for any investigation on those OSes. If you want 98SE then please give me an hour or so to set it up on my broadband;)
I can do dial-up testing if needed, but I hardly use that these days...............
Nah, that's not necessary. Now the thing to do is for you and DjM to compare settings. Clearly something is different, we just have to track down what iit is. Thanks bud. I see he's on so hopefully he'll see this.
I have stopped using IE for surffing AO. I installed FF2 and used it all day yesterday with out problems. I think I will likely just stick with FF2 for AO and IE for my other work.Quote:

What! DjM old chap, I am totally mortified!
You don't give up on stuff from Microsoft, you beat it into a shape that is "more visually pleasing" or something like that?
:p:D
OK..............there are limits on how "visually pleasing" you can make a lump of play dough?
:1pumpkin:
Hey I am more that willing to tell nihil what my settings are in IE but I am having fun with FF.Quote:

I am sure this was just one of those "minor problems" that one has when trying to move from one RDBMS to another, about 10 steps up the food chain?;)
Yes, I have been there and done that..............but not with a website:eek:
I am using latest IE 6 by the way................and you?
IE 6, SP1, fully patched.Quote:
