No problem dude. The Wolfman likes your tunes, so the Wolfman added your page to my links.
So any word on releasing a CD??
Well I do have some CDs made that I made myself and hand made art work for, and I found out not that long ago where I can get like 100 made for a decent price so I may later on be able to do that, but as of right now I just have the hand made ones that I usually self for 4 or 5 dollars, but shipping would of course be a problem because I have no idea what it would cost to send them out which is why I uploaded them in MP3 form and went with SNOcap as they take 39 cents off each MP3 I sell and that way people could burn their own without paying for shipping, I just need to upload the rest, and that's why on the store on Myspace they're numbered because the first album I laid the tracks out and just numbered it so that way I could upload the whole CD and people could buy tracks like that without the shipping cost.
If I can get some made professionally though and start sending them out, then I for sure will and let everyone know, but personally right now I'd recommend MP3s because of the shipping thing not being a problem.
Also once we have some servers set up I can pop them on there too :)
Anyway, thanks much for the support! I have to run for a bit, so see ya all later!

I got published !!!!!!!!
Congrats Gore..
..except I can't open it :( Firefox is saying Server Not Found maybe I hit a downtime? I'll try again tonight
I just refreshed it and it was working, I'll copy and paste the link from the email, and I can do the regular site too:
http://www.poorbastard.org/index.php...rest&Itemid=56
In case that doesn't work:
http://www.poorbastard.org/
Move the mouse over "Community" and then click on "Sites of interest" and scroll down a bit... Think it may be the link that was messed up so doing that will pull up the same thing :)
Either way, I'm like wowed at being published heh.
Happy New Year
Congrats Gore!
Yes, the MP3's are cool, but I would rather a home made CD with your art work as a cover. If you could set something up through Paypal, I would purchase a copy. I think $10 for a home made CD and $15 for a professional CD is not that much as to ask for.... This may make it worth your effort.
Anywho, time to get drunk. Happy New Years!
I'll see what I can do dude. Right now I'm sick with a cold for the first time in like 2 years which blows... Literally, heh.
I did finish a new song today though and it's up:
Living Dead.
Enjoy!
New song up, Misfits tribute :)
I know the exact song you are talking about, and it may be more than just permission keeping you from putting it up (if I'm right) :DQuote:

Thanks very much!
And yea, I make the music myself with a laptop running OpenSUSE 10.2 and LMMS, and load the samples in with that now too (was using MhWaveEdit for it but LMMS handles the wavs just as good) and the store underneath the main songs allows 30 second samples, and I uploaded the max allowed because, well, I don't pretend I'm a rock star. lol.
I had one up before I made the new one that was actually Johnny Cash inspired too, called "Zombie Cash" and I made a stand up bass sound playing "Walk the Line" on that while playing some stuff with it that I thought was pretty cool.
Thanks much, and I post on here whenever I upload a new one.

I enjoy some of your titles Gore, at least now I know that you're spending your late nights being more productive ;)
Thanks dude ;)
By the way, new Acid Bath Tribute song up now!
Just did some updates and uploaded two songs:
The first song that plays when viewing the profile, I made that yesterday and I'm pretty proud of it all around, no samples but I think it's cool.
2. The second song I uploaded which is the third one (the second second on there s a newer one too called Zombie) is a Lords of Acid mix I did a while back but just never uploaded, so if you like them check that out.
Anyway, enjoy!
Uploaded a new song a minute ago. This is sort of an experiment because it's a new version of LMMS I'm using as I used to do all this just with my laptop and the version I had, and when I put a newer version on my desktop to see if it worked the same, I saw there was a crap load of these new samples and effects so I started messing with a few and made the new song in like an hour.
So the new one up has a bunch of the new sound effects and samples that come with the new version and I made that song to test them out a bit, but at the same time tried to make a decent song with the test too.
I made it the default song that plays when you view the profile, so check it out and let me know what you think.
Well, it's been a while since I updated this... I just uploaded some new stuff, and I've changed a crap load of the stuff on there. Today I uploaded the newest track. My usual Halloween special. I made it early because I've been waiting for this Halloween for.... Well since last year.
So I uploaded a track I made yesterday which is this year's Halloween special from the FOH.
I've gotten really good feedback on it so far from people saying it's the best I've ever done, so I must be doing something right.
Also I've taken down a lot of the older stuff I had up and uploaded newer songs I've done. So there is basically a totally new play list.
The last time I updated this thread, which was a while ago, I didn't have much up there, and Myspace now allows you to have 6 songs up. I took down pretty much every song that WAS up there, and now it's all my newer stuff. The only old one I left up was a favorite that I did a while ago, but the other 5 up there are now new ones with the new version of LMMS which I'm using exclusively.
Anyway, there is a lot of new stuff up now, and it isn't like the old ones where I was first learning how to use that app, it's now stuff where I've gotten a better feel, and of course the samples that came with the newest version of LMMS so I could make more stuff.
Enjoy,
-gore
Been a while since I've made any updates here, but anyway, I just figured I'd give one:
I have newer stuff uploaded than when I last updated this thing.
One weird thing that just happened 10 minutes ago:
I logged into my account, and had new requests, and a message. It's from a company doing some "Underground Industrial" compilation CD featuring "artists" / Musicians who do underground Industrial music, and they said they were "VERY IMPRESSED" with my song "ZombieTronic" and that they want to use it on their compilation CD.
I found it weird because I didn't think I was great, first off, since I currently don't have any way of doing half of what I want to do musically. I want a Guitar I can hook up to my computer and make guitar stuff for songs, and also to hook up my bass guitar to it and do the same, and possibly some vocals since I have a crap load of lyrics I've written and just never really done much with other than show people who seemed to like them.
Anyway, if I decide to do it, I get 50 copies of the Compilation CD, I'll be put in the CD with a picture and BIO about me, and I can sell the CDs for any price I want, they recommend 8 dollars, and I keep 100% of the money from the CDs I personally sell, and then I get 50% of the sales from I-Tunes, Napster, and other online music sources that will carry the album. Basically half of whatever my song makes, + 100% of CD sales I personally make.
They mentioned it would be on recycled paper and Earth friendly Ink and that they were making this CD to raise Money to plant trees and stuff, and that all the musicians that say yes will get contact info for each other to swap shows and basically plan out doing concerts, and also the album would be carried in stores and I'd get a piece of that too.
I'm not really sure though. You need 175 dollars to buy the initial 50 copies of the album because they want something up front to pay for the album production and marketing, since it went over the business plan in the message I got.
It's a legit company who puts out music and all that, but I don't have 175 dollars to spend even if I do get like a grand in return.
Anyway, it's nice and all because someone wants to put a picture of me and my bio in an album and then hook me up with other people who make similar music, and of course possibly making a lot of cash from it... But wow...What do you say when you think you're not even doing half as good as you could because you can't record the way you want and someone still thinks it's good?
I'm not sure what I'm going to do, but obviously that is a big chance.
And if you haven't listened to my stuff before, here you go:
http://www.myspace.com/farmacyofhorror
I make all of it with LMMS (Linux MultiMedia Studio) and the samples are whatever I could find normally. I know I could do a bunch better if I had a Guitar I could hook up and my bass, and that would be nice, but I don't have the cash to buy a guitar, or parts needed to hook up a guitar to a computer, and recording with a mic is REALLY bad quality, I know, I've done that heh.
Sounds good. I listen to industrial mixed with acid jazz. You should add your album to Magnatune.com. Only a few in the industrial genre section. BTW, who is spamming the heck out of threads fellow Michigander.
What threads? And thanks.
I'm pretty worried about what is happening in this thread.

:what:
gore - you can get the stuff to hook a guitar into a computer for a few dollars. You just need a male to male audio cable. If you get a 1/4 inch, then you need a 1/4 to 1/8 converter, and vice versa if you get a 1/8 inch male to male. Then just plug it into your line in. You can also put pedals in between, or an amp, and use the line out on the amp, so you can have the effects.
I've always wondered how that worked. Back in...Wow a long time ago now, I used to just take a PC mic, hook it up, and use the record sound feature you can get on whatever OS. The Linux ones were WAY better because they would record for however long, but Windows record sucked because you only got 60 seconds.
I've still got recordings I did with that stuff, it sounds like crap, the mic makes vocals crack if they go to loud, and on top of it whenever I did something more than a minute long, I'd have to stop at 59 seconds, hit stop, then, hit record again, and start playing again, and continue from there every 60 seconds.
Once they were saved it would let you keep going for another minute, but it was really annoying because I'd have to write music in a way that there were pauses at 59.9 seconds so it didn't sound like total crap. Easiest thing to do was Death Metal vocals because you could just do a solo growl, hit save, start recording again while growling, and then continue playing.
Anyone know any good apps that allow you to do this recording style? I'm pretty sure LMMS allows it, and I think Krec for Linux and BSD can take "Input" as a spot to record from, but any ones in particular?
The only thing I don't need to use are drums because, well, I do those electronically either way. I can come up with cleaner drums using a keyboard or LMMS easily. I can play drums for real for some styles of music, but they are louder than guitars and basses so they pop a lot unless I want to spend a bunch of money I don't have on better equipment.
I've done drums before for a friend who wanted in on the music I was making with my best friend, and he started taking lessons because he liked the lyrics I wrote and the stuff we came up with, and when he got his drum set home, I went over and played on it and he was like "WTF dude you sound like you've been playing for at least 6 months" and I hadn't really ever played much before except on small kits just screwing around. I kept messing with drums and got OK at it, but I prefer using a keyboard or app for drums.
One of the things that was really hard for me to play along too, was Psychobilly and Rockabilly because they use stand up bass for the sound. I can't afford a stand up bass and so one day I was screwing around with my Ibanez Bass, and I downtuned the **** out of my strings and found out almost by accident that if my finger slide underneath the string on the fret board and I did a bass pluck, it sounded almost exactly like a stand up bass.
I messed with that for a little while and got it to sound almost exact by doing a weird trick on bass with my fingers where I'd put them in an exact spot on the fretboard with the string sort of to the side, pluck it, and force it to slam down on the pick ups when it started to resonate, and it sounded almost exact.
Basically the thing you see Rockabilly bands doing with a Bass when they pluck, except every time I pluck, I slap a finger down on the string to make it hit the Pick Ups just right, and, boom, you've turned a 300 dollar crappy bass into something that can sound like a 5,000 dollar stand up bass.
It's not easy to get the hang up since no one teaches you to do that, but it works.
If my amp wasn't blown right now I could record it and upload it as a sample.
I have used Cool Edit Pro with windows. It has some nice features, and I am pretty sure it allows for somewhere in the neighborhood of 256 tracks. [could be mistaken on that] I prefer the old version before Adobe bought and bloated the crap out of it. You can't buy it any more... [The old version that is] ... yo-ho, as it were... If I remember correctly, the 2000 version kind of sucked. V 2.* is pretty cool though. Though, that all comes down to personal preference I suppose.
I have a normal guitar. I play it as far away from the bridge as I can then change the pitch in Audacity.Quote:

I've done that too to make some effects. On Bass it's a little different, but also where the strings are tuned at the top of the neck, you can make a neat effect by strumming those with a pick, like right above the neck towards the head. I used those once to play the theme from Halloween. Can't really control the pitch and you really just have those 4 sounds but it works.
I've also used things for different muting, like the remote to my TV or VCR to not only give it a less heavy mute, but also to made weird slide sounds, and also to smack strings differently.
Drum sticks work pretty well too if you want a more stand up bass percussion sound but on a guitar I'm not sure if the strings can handle actual sticks.

Come to think of it, that alone sounds more realistic than Jack White's fake bass tone. This guy... has a pedal board thats so huge and clumbersome that it doubles as a stage in itself.Quote:

That might be a bad idea ;) Glass on something that can act like a chainsaw (The E string on a Bass) I've had one snap on me ONCE and it ended up wrapping around my wrist right inside my flesh. Hurt pretty bad. I snapped it while doing some "slap" practicing.
As for Jack, he's an upholstery guy from here. lol.
New song up ;) Didn't know what to call it so, well, you know. It's a little different because I didn't add in any samples, so even though I might later, right now there are no samples in it.
I uploaded some lyrics I wrote the other day to my blog on there now, so if you're interested in what lurks behind channel gore, there you go lol. It's called Enchantment.
I'm not sure how bad Guitar strings would hurt, but depending on the type of strings you have, Bass strings can cause some major damage if you aren't careful. I should have kept the ones that were covered in blood, they're be a neat token of "Don't EVER do this again" lol.
I have a few scars on my right arm because of stuff like that. Not too noticeable though. But yes, pulling steel out of your arm after it chainsawed it's way in, is really hard.
I still don't have a finger protector or slide bar, so when I do bass solos, I generally have a gush in my fingers.
I've seen friend's snap bass strings and have to get things done to their hands because of it.
Gore,
Guess whos back :)
You? ;)
No , Elvis !
Just met him in the pub man. oh yeah, and I am back to.
neat
If anyone is interested, I'm still making music when I actually can. I've been super busy, but I have got some stuff up now I didn't post about on here. Anyway, I'm Hoping I can get a track going soon. I have to go make a visit to the In Laws this week coming up so I'll be gone, but I'm Hoping to get something started. I just got a new version of LMMS, so I'm probably going to try and experiment.
The Wolfman is defintely looking forward to some new Farmacy of Horror.
Keep us posted!
