I am so sick of hearing people complain about how much the system is keeping them down, and then doing nothing to solve the problem. Want to be able to smoke pot? Then push for candiates that will support drug legalization...they (politicians) will do anything they think the voters want. Make it clear you toke and you vote, and suddenly Drug Leaglization will be more popular!
I'm sorry but as this thread is intrisic to my rights and people my age. I may humbly point out that someone that is 17 years and 364 days old still has less rights than someone one day older than themselves and are therfore obviously less responsible. This means that we the under representated youth in todays society have absolutley no say in what is happening around them. drug testing is just another of these things in which we as minors can't comprehend obviously and so can't possibly have a view on.
Personally I find drug testing a revolting practice in a society which is meant to be centered on free choice and testing all students just because they want to attend a evening society is frankly despicable. I can see the need for people that are suspected of drug use being tested but this blanket testing doesn't appear to have any purpose to me unless the choir is really a hotbed of crak heads and H junkies I really don't see the point.

i am sorry to say that there is no country in this world that is a complete democracy. when i say that i am including usa. if america is a democracy then why doesnt it let the youth vote. isnt a person under the age of 18 (or whatever it is) a citizen, and shouldnt that person who might be smarter than the presidents, be able to decide who rules him/her. i assume half the people in here at AO are teens. and i am glad to say that most of them are intelligent to point out who should govern his/her country. if we did get to vote people will live a better life.

It's too easy to see how this can be abused. Now, most teachers are not the sort of cruel-spirited person depicted here, but I can speak from experiance that there are a special few who will do anything in their power to break down a student or two who might just have something more interesting to talk about than the dumbed-down version of the invention of thee legged stool or other such fascinating facets of "curriculuum" tuaght in the classroom.
Now I'd like to end my day with a bottle of coke, but I'm afraid that police officer in the car down the street will subject me to a random screening as I walk by to get to the gas station.
Oh well, I'm sure soon enough it will be realized this is all in the name of "national security."

Search away for all I care. It's a public school system and by that right, students are then under the 'protection' of the school which is city funded. How many times do you hear someone suing the school because of an accident or something...and people say these searches are unconstitutional on public property? I'd say if they don't make that happen, then remove the liability from the school being held blame for something going wrong.
In the USA today, there's entirely too much abuse of the system to get money and whatnot. And this sounds like another thing prompted due to the "9/11" incident even though it has nothing to do with it.
Disclaimer: I don't warrant full freedom for a school to do any searches or drug tests. Random ones are OK because we've all seen those a few times a year however just picking people out of class or whatever, that's not good. Another thing, if "students" didn't **** around and just obeyed the rules, nobody would be in trouble and there wouldn't be an issue. Wait till you're 18, and then do whatever you want.
having someone standout side a door and listen to make sure your peeing in a cup....? thats not inbarassing, tell a army recruter tha you wanna join the army and go intull they drug test you, then youll know imbarassing, 50 guys standing in a 6 man bathroom, cup in list hand, **** in right, be carefull not to get the guy infront of you or else hes likely to turn arround and throw his piss on you. thats 50 people in rows and colums, with a guy on wither ride imspecting everyone to make sure that nobodys cheating some how.... thats imbarassing. see how well you take to pissing with another guy less then a foot away in every direction 'cept up......

Isn't the decission to criminalize drugs a democratic decisson, passed by an elected administration?

to say random drug tests are ok because drugs are illegal is the same as saying random searchs threw peoples clothing and belongings in a mall is ok because shoplifting is illegal.
if you want to test someone for drugs, you should have resonable suspicion and a court order.
Why are drugs illegal anyways? Is it wrong to make yourself feel good? Just like self gratification i guess u go into a state of euphoria... And if drugs are illegal what about ciggarettes is there much of a differance between smoking marjiuana and smoking ciggarettes? personally i think both of them are bad but still why should people who smoke marajiuna be jailed while it's ok to smoke ciggarettes? isn't there something wrong with that?
