I haven't seen anyone else post a logo that wouldn't have taken more than 10 seconds to make with a few photoshop layer styles. So unless you can come up with something better, why the hell are you bitching about it? (Your logos look just as cheap) Stop giving these people so much grief and give them a chance to change everything before you go on a rant about how you hate it. They ARE big business people, they don't have time to spend consoling disgruntled members everytime they pick apart something else they don't like.
I did, however, send a note off to one of the owners suggesting a logo contest yesterday. Haven't heard anything back yet, but it's saturday, and I'm not about to get my panties in a bunch over it.

Also, I was bored and decided to contribute a logo. I do not own the photograph in the logo, therefore, it cannot be used. (Was pulled up on Google through their image directory). I'm sure a company like JUPM has a nice stock photography account somewhere like Getty where they could find their own. This is in no means a finished product or the extent of what I can do with my resources, just an idea. Nothing more.

oooh, two tone slogan, with emphasis on the "shouldn't you", nice twist GG. but at seventy thousand bytes they couldn't pick it over eleven thousand (pushing twelve). when you add up all the extra bandwidth (or money) spent sending this logo to the same thousands(?) of people daily, it just doesn't make sense. and all that wasted ink on the letterheaded paper :)

I like yours. Quite nifty if I may say so. Well, I already said it so... anyways.
As for the logo that JUPM created, it ain't no biggie to me. I've always found that the members are more important and what they contribute is more important. How the site looks.. well that's entirely secondary. The idea of a logo-contest isn't a bad one but we'd have to keep in mind that the intent, as presented previously by JUPM, is that this site be more "security-oriented". To that I believe there suggests an angle of professionalism.
Just an opinion, if I may.

The logo change doesn't bother me _THAT_ much.. Sure it's on every page you're going to see on this board, but really how often do you look at it? I'm sure i noticed it at first, but after a while you become oblivious to it.
What bothers me more is that the changes are occuring and they aren't even being mentioned. I mean it'd take 30 seconds for a JUPM employee to sit down and type out a post that says "This is where we are and this is where we're going.. " and then a list of points.. It'd be nice to know we're alive and here in some small way.

Ok, I don't have the time. But I here is what can be done in ten minutes with The Gimp. I assume that somebody with a better graphical knowledge (Greek Godess?) will make something really good, serious AND in the AO spirit, isn't it?
