I owe you all an apology, I should not have lost my cool last night. And particularly sorry to you Tony, as I seem to have screwed up your thread?

The only explanation that I can offer is that a friend of mine has a girlfriend who is a lawyer. She tends to handle Crown (State) prosecutions in the lower courts.

Courtesy of the FBI there were a couple of leads in this area, which mostly consist of farming communities. This means there is a bit of rivalry between law enforcement people, so I am asked to look for evidence on these computers and media, rather than get the "big city" types in?

The trouble with looking for evidence, is that when you find it, you actually see it..........I was physically sick, and felt very negative towards the people responsible.

I over-reacted, I guess if it were a court case, I would be considered to be in contempt?

Kiddie porn was just the first thing that came into my head when I typed a sentence that intended to make the point that the internet transcends varying cultures and what might be very bad in one culture may be quite acceptable in another, thus the "strength and weakness" part of my post. It was not support of KP in any way......

Nightfalls: Whether you like it or not KP exists because there is a market for it. No market = no KP. Your method of dealing with the offenders makes you a criminal too...... Learn to think, be devious and to hurt these people where they hurt most, which in a western society is usually in the wallet. Reduce them to living in the gutter and keep them there, where they belong, and they will suffer much more, especially if they were successful.... They get to think about how good it _used_ to be..... Physical pain has an end.... Mental pain continues forever..... ;)

Nihil: Don't worry old man...... We all get a little "warm" under the collar from time to time.... I would suggest you read my advice to Nightfalls though..... When I was young I would have reacted like you and her but the benefit of years has taught me that the knee jerk reaction, while quite satisfying, isn't quite as much fun as total degradation.... And there is no law against total degradation..... :D

No worries. When I posted the original thread way back when about how the porn sites were being extorted in the first place I believe it digressed down the same path.

Essentially, there are those in favor of porn- or at least their freedom to do what they want if they so choose, and those who are adamantly opposed to porn. Almost universally nobody supports child pornography and some other lunatic fringe forms of "expression" (aka fetishes).

People were in support of extorting or DoS'ing child porn sites, but the general consensus seemed to be that legitimate porn sites had just as much right to protection as any other business and that this person should be hunted down and brought to justice.

I don't think you'll find many (or any) people in support of child pornography, but TigerShark makes valid points. A) there are obviously more people than you would like to believe that ARE into child porn or it wouldn't still be such big business. The same is true for many fetishes. I can't get into bestiality personally and it disgusts me- but you will find no shortage of sites dedicated to the topic.

The double-edged sword here in the United States is that in order to protect MY right to free speech and free thought we have to protect everyone else's as well. If we allow the Christian Coalition...I mean Republican Party to choose who to censor and where to draw the line maybe I won't like where they draw it. Maybe the next regime will move the line even tighter until you have the government dictating what books you can read, what shows you can watch, what political ideology you can believe in. At that point we can all just move to Beijing.

B) Different laws and cultures transcend the Internet and make enforcing the laws of any one sovereign nation difficult. It is a problem that will continue for a long time to come on the Internet. Many laws are common around the world and can be enforced globally. But, the United States can't prosecute someone in Taiwan for breaking a U.S. law and they also will be hard-pressed to prevent U.S. citizens from viewing the "illegal" content on the Taiwanese web site unless they implement a national border firewall like China- which goes back to protecting the freedoms of the citizens and not letting the government censor and dictate what we can see / read / think.

I think that DoS attacks and extortion / blackmail are pretty much globally illegal and prosecuting "Deepsy" shouldn't be too difficult. Like someone else already mentione- Israel and the U.S. are pretty friendly and have legal systems that are similar enough that I am pretty confident this guy is screwed.

Oh just kill em all for crying out loud...

Your ranting about killing them all implies an immature streak in you that you will hopefully grow out of. In the meantime consider your potential to actually carry out the acts you wish upon them..... You've never seen anyone actually dying of wounds have you? Have you ever considered watching someone dying of wounds you inflicted? Of course not.... My dear girl, your appetite for violence is only exceeded by your inability to carry out your threats so sit back, relax accept that there are things in the world that "Nightfalls" cannot change alone, and certainly not in the manner she pretends to desire.
