In saying that, i would also like to point out that the newbies are not dumb, evean if thay like acting as if thay are. the FAQ are posted on th first page, how hard is it to figgure out that thya should read that first??

It's not a question of how hard it is to read that first but rather why read it? It's the old adage of a using a program without RTFMing and then wondering why the simplest of things don't work or not understanding how it does that (e.g., using nmap to get information even with ICMP blocked)Quote:

Well, as a newb, I think I can safely speak for SOME of us when I say that we have all posted something really we shouldn't have or maybe we could have worded it a little differently. I came to this site a while ago looking for help. A group of people had numerously hacked into my AOL account and were signing on in my name causing trouble etc. To sum it up, I had gone to the police because I didn't know what to do, where to go or who to turn to. AOL would do nothing about it except change my password, which they (the"hackers") would just as quickly change it back to whatever they wished. So silly me, came here looking for help as to how this could have been done, because the best way to "protect" yourself is knowing the areas that need protecting. I didn't want a step-by-step instruction on how to hack. The way I posted may have seemed that's what I meant. But that isn't why I came here. I have no desire to become a hacker or cracker or whatever, but merely would like to protect myself from further intrusions. So I scoured the site looking, finding nothing easily understandable to a newb, did the unthinkable and asked how it was done. Big mistake. I got negged quite a few times for that. The people doing the negging automatically thought I was here looking for a quick tutorial on hacking into AOL accounts without even asking me to explain my situation. My problem did not involve having a virus or anything most people would have told me to look for. I know the people who did this to my computer. So a couple years later, I have gotten rid of that junk called AOL, but have gotten a firewall, plus the built -in firewall with my Windows XP, have up-to-date virus protection and have learned to "turn off" certain programs in my computer that I do not need, that could pose potential security risks. I suppose everyone is waiting for my point. lol. I think it would be to have a little mercy on us newb's, sometimes we really do have a viable reason for asking "how was this done" PLease before negging us to death, please find out circumstances, maybe we really DO need your help, counsel, guidance, whatever. So as far as having a forum for newb's, yes I would like that very much, so we don't look "inferior" to all the supergeniuses on your site..lol ...You know what I mean, in the most humorous way possible. Bullcrap! If your asking "how was this done" well thats fine I guess but come on anyone who owns a computer should know or either take a good guess at what a keyloger does, what a dDoS is, & (ect). But if it's "how do you hack....whatever" then either way... what ever direction your ethics sway towards its still a rather dumb thing to ask. These types of questions not only get redundant and boreing very quickly but it also draws in more and more crowds of wannabe haxwhores who will most likely ask the same question within a week or two.
:confused: Well at the time , no I had no clue what any of those things were. My point was just proven by Specialist's reply. No matter what, we newbs' posts aren't going to be worded correctly for some if we don't even know what it is we are trying to ask. And no, not everyone knows what these basic things are, despite how "popular" they are on Google. I have noticed how the buck gets passed to Google so often. What EXACTLY is this site here for?(AO) The attack did not occur with a virus , or keylogger. They have not and will not ever have direct access to my computer. (them being in the same room as my computer) Wasn't sure how to word that. I do know alot more now than I did then. But I do know this, I will be cautious about asking for any help on this site again.

ok first of, im not geting involved in a flame war, second of all try edditing your post instead of dubble posting, and 3rd of all the whole spelling thing is really old, so get over it.

It's okay Sweetlissa, NFG is using AP's when she disagrees with posts on this thread, you're not the only one who got it ;) You also make my point for me. People jump to conclusions with no information...Assuming things, and you all know what they say about assuming. A little bit of time and effort asking you about what you needed the information for (having not read your thread, I don't know what exactly the discussion was) would have probably cleared a lot of things up, and made life easier on everyone involved. However, the internet is just like real life, you're going to find people who are sh*theads and those who are not. At least you're still here :)
Thank you for you reply, it seems, by the looks of NFG history, she likes one line posts and assigns AP for idiotic reasons. I went through alot of her posts and I have yet to find one that was helpful to anyone. So, I doubt she will last long on this site anyhow. Again, Thanks, Sweetlissa :p
