Hackers: Who are they and how can they be stopped

I don't even see the point of writing papers about how to stop hackers.
That just doesn't make sense to me anymore.
People type papers and make bigg deals over nothing.
They subsitutue hackers for crackers and virus writers.
When in all actuality the majority of us love to learn and read and explore websites looking for flaws in servers.
So we can report back to it's provider helping them to correct it.
Don't make hackers your target for insecure mindset.
If these losers putt there heads together they would know there research.
Bill gates was a ****ing hacker if you think about it.
This guy ****ing created windows, programmed it from scratch you mean to tell me that he hasnt hacked into a few servers and sites or broke into things he had no bidness breaking into?
That's just stupidity if you don't believe that.

Sorry for my bad manners, as it is my first post I shall introduce myself.
I don't know as much about computers as I wanted to, but I believe I've come to the right place. I 've read some of your forums and noticed that most of you guys are very skilled people or people who want to learn and share knowledge and experiences.

I sincerely hope to join you in many discussion forums and make some friends.

I use the term "ethical hacker" to refer to myself. Most people still ask me to teach them how to write a virus and h4x0r hotmail though. The only people who know what I mean by "hacker" are, like, three friends and my science teacher :).

LOL I think you're a lamer :D...why do you consider yourself a hacker? What makes you a hacker? What skill set do you have to call yourself a hacker? Answer those questions and I'll agree with you if your answers are valid. Calling yourself a hacker is a bit naive...and you'll notice that not many true hackers give themselves the title...instead its something they earn.

Well, I also use the term "newbie" quite often . More often i am using the phrase "hacking"to refer to what i am trying to learn and other more experienced people whos website I go to (like this one).

You see, today, there is no valid reason you can justify breaking into other's computers.
But in the old days, you HAD to break into other computers. How else would you learn stuff.
There was no such thing as private ISP's and who the hell had multiple computers at home those days (if you even had one)? Only universities etc. had lans.

Today, thing's are different, everyone can get what they need for haxing for free (or small amount of money). So there's no point in rooting an apache server or something, and installing a rootkit so you 0wn it. One can do that at home too...

I have the oppurtunity to work with several large banks and corporations on a daily basis and I think the general public's trust in them would be greatly shaken if they became aware of the gaping holes in there security and there general attitude towards fixing the problems.

Using the term newbie quite often shows that you play too many computer games online. Using the word hacking in reference to what you're trying to learn...is the complete opposite of what it means. You should consider yourself more of a script kiddie. A hacker is someone who has mastered a skill, have it be computer/programming, dentist, doctor, Carpenter. (Hope u get my point) I'm guessing you're 14-17 years old who's interested in security. This is a good website to start with...but your best bet would be to read a lot of books, including "Hack this" "Hacker's Challenge" "Hacking Exposed" and any other reading materials you can find. AO will not teach you how to hack, instead it will teach you how to defend yourself.

If the guy is talking about "evil hackers" maybe we should start about "unethical journalism". He got the ****ing keyrole in a democracy, informing the people so they can make a good choice based on reality. If the journalist is misinformed or ignorant or just plain "evil", maybe all evil hackers need to unethically deface the journalist's ****. It's in the hackers nature anyway to have an "angry mentality". As the guy paints it, it seems to me the "information liberating" hackers are doing a much better job at liberating that information, then the journalist himself, who is supposed to do so, is.

Another ****ed up thing about the article is: the funny pieces he put between quotes and he says they're the words of"Dr Peter Tippett, chief technologist at security specialist <censored>". I guess he bought that "Dr" title from one of those hundred spamsuppliers of mine. He's definatly living in a past milleniom if the **** decides to not mention spam as evil hacker activity, while he goes on to bashing teenagers as the "chief technologist at security specialist <censored>" he is. IMO grown ups, who should have the ****ing moral values and **** the teenage scriptkiddies lack, sending my 12 year old sister hardcore porn mails with my adress as the senders adress is much more a crime then a random scriptkiddie from brazil defacing a website for political reasons.
