Oh, It looks like a good few seniors might be leaving.
just to let you know, i found a trend with the popups, every time i am on the front page and click on the "discussion forms" link under site menu, i get the popup... i hope this helps in the eradication of this annoyance
I have a question: how is it that if a "newbie" comes to AO asking a question on how to get rid of pop-ups, members by the hundred refer the "newbie" to the Google toolbar, Mozilla, Firefox, and a dozen of hundred other solutions. And now all those same members are getting pop-ups? Allow me to refer you to the Google Toolbar, Mozilla, FireFox, Opera, Slim Browser, and of course the infamous Proxomitron...
Pop-ups are annoying, and I completely understand the disbelief about AO carrying them, though...
Nope, I'm still here. :DQuote:

I've just been using Firefox, and still haven't been hit once yet, and I've been all over these forums througout various points of the day.
Thats because your pop up blocker is on by default.
For those of you still seeing this popup could you note which ad it's popping up with?
See my earlier post I cut and paste it in.Quote:

Negative. Some of us keep our browsers vanilla to allow us to properly utilise the features of other sites which use popups with reason. As well as this no BHO is a good BHO.
If I want to start using non Vanilla browsers that block popups I will write one.

Thats the picture that pops up for me. I've recieved it from the front page and while browsing the forums. It doesn't seem to be consistant as if I refresh a page that causes it, it doesn't normally re-aprear. It does ONLY show up when I change pages. I think this is the same picture that has been seen by many others viewing this page which makes me believe its not some sort of ad-ware on the computers but instead a popup generated from the web page. It doesn't bother me, I just figured I would add my expierience to the thread.
msm - the popup seems to come up with the intel xeon ad [edit] something strange - when i posted this anwser, it gave me the popup when i went on to the "please wait while you are being redirected" page after clicking submit reply[/edit]
Negative - it is not that we are complaining about the problem, it is that it is the princaple of the matter -- we are a site that is fighting against popups and spyware, and then the site itself starts to give up popups...
That's the popup itself. What I'm looking for is the ad that appeared on the same page as it popped up. For example, some users are reporting that the Xeon ad is there when the popup occurs and I think I've heard one person mention the Centrino ad (intel based seems to be the common factor).Quote:
