I've just been watching the news.
Damn, but the weather takes no prisoners over your side of the pond.
145 mph winds, hitting land south of where expected.........
I hope that you, and your families, all made it safely through..........
Just heard a friend of the family over the phone and they said everything was cool, it got pretty damn close to where they were staying at & it looks like they and alot of other people just got some bad rain and a bunch of trash and puddles in their yard.
Phew...turns out that the massive intensification it did yesterday afternoon saved my butt. We got lots of wind and rain, my road is still under water (but it's a dirt road, and not all that uncommon to be underwater) and we had a lot to clean up today, trees and limbs and stuff, and were out of electricity and phone service most of the day. However, it could have been so much worse for us. When it intensified, it took a hard right too, and we missed the brunt of it. Very thankful for what could have happened but didn't.
Thanks for all the well-wishes, and cd, I'm glad your girls are okay. There are a lot of people who aren't. There were at last count I heard, 15 confirmed dead, and lots more feared dead.
they restored your services pretty quickly deb didn't expect to here from you until sunday or monday. just glad you made it threw ok.
They canceled the severe weather watch it seems Charley is losing his punch, but we will still get heavy rains and wind but not as strong as suspected it's raining heavy now i'm just glad thats all it is doing
Deb i'm glad you made it threw safely
I actually just saw this thread. Is is kinda late but I figured I'd chime in.
Its kind of crazy that 6 years ago I moved up to Jax with my parents who have lived in FL for 26 years (without a direct hit from a Category 1 or above storm). 2 months ago they moved back to my hometown, Ft. Myers. Their house is about 9 miles from the gulf, and 0.5 from the river (right on the McGregor corridor for anybody who knows the area). They sustained some shingles being torn off, a few trees in their pool, a few more in their front yard, and a whole lot of random **** laying around their property. It is a wild scene down there apparently. Check out < a href="http://www.news-press.com">the local paper</a> for some pics of the area.
My thoughts are with those who have been impacted. :)
