Er0k:
I feel compelled to answer your statements...
I posted to the addicts forum because the people in the addicts forum have been around the longest and are supposed to be mature enough to respond constructively. it was moved here...get over it, I certainly did.
I didn't fail to recognize others, you just happen to be the only one continuing to post to this thread, so it may appear that way...
I do know how to use the edit feature thank you. I try not to mix responses when I can, and half the time while I am responding to one message..another pops up. Again..big deal.
if my signature offends you..good.
Most of us were discussing the idea, and while you were participating, continued to snip about the "irony" or lack thereof.
I have no problem with you. Frankly you aren't worth the effort.
Thank you for your constructive responses to this thread.
and no, this has nothing to do with ego.

Negative: any word from the 'powers that be' about this or do we wait until tomorrow?
-
Wait until tomorrow... it's Sunday...
Even I am going to bed right now :D
-
I thought you guys worked 24x7? get gus on the phone, call a board meeting and solve this problem!

I have just two words I'd like to post about petty bickering..
to understand it, you'd have to have been around AO when hogfly was active years ago..
hogfly fart
there, that'll clear the air :D

Hey...I didn't realize that it was set up the way hoggy says it is but upon further contemplation, I like it.
Let's say that member A has a problem with member C and would prefer not to have to deal with member C. By ignoring him/her, member A can start posts with no fear of disruption from member C. Member C, if member C is truely a good member, will get disgusted at his/her inability to post to member A's threads and attempt to resolve the inability to post issue, which in theory would involve a peace treaty with member A. Member A removes Member C from his/her ignore list and all is theoretically well.
JMHO

allen: Yeah, but how? If you can't PM that user, that user can't see your posts, then how is a "peace treaty" of sorts supposed to be formed? Catch what I'm saying?
I understand what you are saying (and in theory it makes sense) but how is my question.

In theory there is no difference between theory and practice. But, in practice, there is.
That being quoted...I don't think people have the maturity to remove someone when an appropriate amount of time has passed. The idea is a good one, but it does prevent people from exercising their member given rights. I think it's up to the moderators to handle "incidents". Either way we'll know tomorrow. Those jupiter media guys keep bankers hours, so they can't fix this now :D mwahahaha
-
Hey, I was around here a bit last weekend ... I don't always keep banker's hours, but I'll admit I only feel compelled to look at the site monday-friday. I guarantee nothing on weekends.
One other meta-comment: I have both the bugs forum and site suggestions in my front page display list, and I read every thread in both of those forums.
Now, about the ignore list ... there doesn't seem to be any concensus yet as to whether the current behavior is good or bad. Continue to discuss, and I'll take action if it seems like you guys want it to change.

I see it two ways:
Pro: If you have a troll following you around trying to trash on threads (as I have had), being able to use ignore to keep them off of threads you start is a nice tool to have to keep thread content healthy.
Con: If, on the other hand, the person you are ignoring is someone who bothers you but still posts good, knowledgable content from time to time (and we have plenty of those types of members), then their being blocked from your thread can have a downfall...even if they're jerks, they still might have something useful to add.
So I think that's what we're looking at. Does the pro outweigh the con, or vice versa? Or is there a way to have our cake and eat it too?

im all for the idea of just hiding their post as you dont wanna miss out on valuable **** just because of one wanker ... also tho if you see his posts as hidden your still gonna know he is there posting annoying **** and you will be tempted to read his posts .. that is however up to the individual so yeh the hiding their post idea is cool :) either that or just dont show their post up in a thread at all
