Almost 4 days of serious crunching and nothing yet...will let it keep running.
if you have more than one computer make a cluster and use that it should be much faster than using just one computer to crack the hash, you could get bccd it is a bootable cluster and slso jtr supports clustering I think.
Ya I was looking into that at first...Ive heard jtr is a pain to get working with a cluster, and I dont believe cisillia will do linux pass hashes.

there is a really good tutorial on making a password cracking cluster around here somewhere. it uses a linux boot disk and according to the responses it works very well.
Just a thought... edit the source to remove the password... then compile it and upload the new firmware. Might be easier than trying to crack it...

I read that post before, it used clusterknoppix to build a windows cracking cluster with cisillia....like i said above, i dont think csillia does linux hashes, and distributed jtr is a pain.

Yep, Already checked out that forum. I even contacted Linksys directly and they woudln't tell me because its not a "published service" on the camera.
There was a link in one of the forums for a hacked version of the firmware with the telnet password reset, but their link is busted.
No dice on the root : password...but john is still working....

Just a silly question...you obviously have access to the /etc/shadow, or you wouldn't have been able to provide the hashes right ? Tried zero'ing out the hash or replacing it with a known value ?
Might be easier than letting us run crackers for days or weeks...
