Whether you're fixated or not you're a believer that there's some form of a god in existence? Just like the Christians, Kombai, Aztecs, Sanema, Mayans, Egyptians, Babongo, Adis, etc...
Why do you acknowledge that some form of a god exists......what's the reasoning behind this? I'm just curious.

I assume you want the short version ;) ...and I can't speak for anyone other than myself in this regard because I don't know other people's reasons or motivations...
my acceptance that some form of god exists is due to ' many ' factors '...but before you can say you believe in a god you have to first define what kind of god it is...otherwise people will infer you are speaking in terms of common usage...
an old philosopher once said that all things are differentiations of the same thing...one thing...there are not many things but only one thing of which everything else are but parts...the stars, the moons, the universes, and all therein contained are like the liver, the kidneys, the heart, contained within us...just as we have living creatures within us, we are living creatures within that one...
inotherwords...god did not ' create ' the universe...the universe is a product of god's DNA...a ' natural ' occurance...a cause of existence.
I use the term DNA only because it is the most relevant word I could use...the universe and everything in it is caused in the same way we are.

However we are missing the point of this thread... which is of course that OverdueSpy is a Jesus freak that loves the idea of shoving his "truth" down everyone else's throat to the point of not only calling everyone who disagrees with him a "liberal" (even when they oppose things like altering the constitution, clearly a conservative stance), but actually fabricating his own version of history to defend his simpleton ideals.
Let's stay on track here people. ;)

For a long time I contemplated this... I thought how much easier and happier life would be with faith. Sadly I could never justify faith. I merely saw the idea of the supernatural as a cop out, as a lazy answer. God, "his grace", "his divine plan" all amounted to little more than a simple distraction from that fact that one day, I will die.Quote:

Once I made this conclusion I became very depressed and began to see many aspects of my life falling into this same set... entertainment, relationships, procreation, drugs, emotions, all of it... just noise to fill our lives with. Constantly hoping to never fall prey to that most silent of silences.
After many years of contemplation, many significant events, and epiphanies I finally knew that I was gonna die. It wasn't some distant abstract, it became a simple fact, one day I would cease to be. If the theory of relativity was correct, my energy would go on, in other forms (caskets and cremation are symptoms of the same curse... always trying to throw a wrench in the cycle, stop it wherever we can) but me... I would exist, in computer terms below the threshold of cohesion.
Once I knew this, the fear went away... the need for material things went away... the need for distractions and compensations across the board went away. I could stop and relax in the stillness and enjoy the silence.
It isn't an easy answer, nor is it a simple one... but at the end of the day you are left with a stable philosophical base. No vapid faith to constantly upkeep, no existential isolation to keep you moving, always moving. Just the moment, mindful of yourself, and your actions, no fear of the unknown.
You have your path, this is mine.

It's real simple for me. Water can't last "forever" but it can last a long time, refer to cryogenics to understand this phenomena. Then refer to cryobiology to understand your current factual "options". Adult human 50%-65% water / Human brain 75% water. Just because I don't know why or how water came here or to be..... my brain can't acknowledge whims, fallacies, and falsities as truth.
If I'm going to do that I should start believing in tarot cards, palm reading, etc..... all that mental midget stuff. Hell why don't I create my own god in my imaginary universe? I think I can mod my monopoly board into an ouija board, and then I can pass go into another realm and talk to my imaginary friends. I think I should accept Lord of the rings to be factual truth.... Star Wars too while I'm at it. If I pick up a homemade sword and yell thunder... thunder! ... THUNDER!!! THUNDER CATS!! HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! is something going to happen across the universe on Third Earth of New Thundera ... if you accept one why not the other?

I don't believe this is true. Everything we know today (Unless you area pioneer or some sort) learn just about everything we know from the past experiences and tribulations of other people. Consider two spectrums of eductation. We have a Bible, and a History book. Both relate stories of the past that we honestly can't verify to a complete degree without believing what someone else is telling us. Do you listen to the priest or to the historian? Billions of people concur with either, or both. The choice is yours in which you choose to acknowledge.Quote:

I’m more likely to stick with what I know like the Pauli exclusion principle etc..etc… that’s just the way I’m programmed.
Just because dragons were documented in so many different ancient cultures in a time where it would be near impossible to communicate across vast distances… Doesn’t mean I’m going to acknowledge dragons existed.
