Charged for water?? Man you were at a shitty Denny's. I too agree, I couldn't care less about you getting the pop I was just offering suggestions that were alternate to dousing the Pop machine with a super soaker full of salt water. I have heard of this method before from someone but have never tried it so i am intrigued to find out why it has to be salt water adn why normal water wouldnt work?

It wasn't a super soaker. It was a pop bottle. And yes this Dennys charges for water. Or at least they did when I was there at night. I was asking for water one night and when I went to leave they handed me a bill.

What's with all of the ethical issues? Sure, Gore was a punk and stole the soda. I've done that trick myself back in middle school when I was a little hellraising "fight-the-system" junkee. I wouln't condone it, nor do I condone it when I did it. It's a clever, but immoral thing to do. I'm not sure why this thread shifted to ethics of a neat trick instead of the "neatness" of the trick itself.
We're not all boy scouts. Those whom are arn't pure either. It's a common an interesting trick (although won't work on any machine made in the past decade or so). Thank you Gore for your contribution.

Gore: The super soaker bit was just to add another piece of flair to the story... ;)
You shoulda punched th person that gave you a bill for water... (I know I know... ethics...I already stated that wasnt the issue I was just wanting to prove that there were alternatives)
So this trick won't work on any new machines either??
