i love the fact that video games is being blamed for this, does that mean the MS Flight simulator should be blamed for 9/11, bloody pathetic !
Although this is tragic, i think that the sniper could at least turn on politicians and make it worthwhile instead of all these innocent victims.
If I am not mistaken Chuck56 the UK has video monitoring of about 95% of the country... I wached a program on Discovery a while back that said the CCTV network in the Uk covers all but about 80 square km of the country... Of course none of the high ranking politicians have any type of video coverage within 1 km of their residences...Quote:

IF the Dems were in the White House and looking for more anti-gun legislation I could see "Big Brother" being involved... You must have forgotten that NOTHING is the perps fault any more... You and I know that video gaems had nothing to do with this sick SOB's actions because we have common sense... Unfortunately most of the people on capital hill and around the country do not... For years the American people have been hearing that criminal are not responsible for their own actions and they only Rape because the Prom Queen wound't go out with them in high school, murder because they were abused as children, steal because they have a drug problem, etc, etc... I was watchin CNN today and it really pissed me off. They were going on and on about how video games may have caused this. showing clips of counterstrike and other first person shooters. it does not seem right to me.

Hmm, I wasnt aware that they were already pointing finger yet. It reminds me of when they were blaming doom for the Columbine shootings, of course there was one interesting piece there, Eric Harris actually was an avid Doom player, to the point of making his own level. I've actually played it, and it does show how twisted in the head he was.
Some people will point fingers at anything to avoid admitting the possibility that the shooter is simply twisted. If these folks admit it's really his fault, then they have to admit maybe their theories aren't 100% right, that maybe it isn't always something else's fault. The blame game has already started for the day he's captured.
Instead of finger pointing, maybe we should all consider how incredibly easy it would be to field 50 well trained sniper/spotter teams distributed to all the major metro areas of the U.S. We don't have an answer for even such a simple plan ladies and gents; and it would cause unholy mayhem. Fear is the weapon of terrorists and this sniper idiot.
By the way . . . I know the guys name is Muhammad sure . . . but what the f%$kwas that "We have him caught like a duck in a noose" statement about? THAT smells like code words to me folks. That Mongomery Police Chief may well have flipped a switch somewhere in the terrorist world with that statement. I'm not a conspiracy theorist or paranoid . . . I'm SERIOUS . . . that was WEIRD.
yes true but only in some situations, im not even going to debate on the numbers cause they are way out of proportion (ok so that was a comment but you know what im saying) sniper training is NOT easy and takes tallent, skill, brains, and a little luck! urban sniping is also alot harder then any other area (except baren areas like the artic) cause there is so little cover and the primary good sniping positions are all SOOOO obvius. and look at the cost for running an opperation like that...... you gotta pay 100 people (in your example) to sit arround all day doing nothing! and then theres the problem of 'gee he must be going to attack from THIS city'. you never know where or when a sniper is going to attack. this sniper was also smart enuf to keep changing where hed shoot from, once in this town, once in that..... never the same town. by the time you realise that you need a counter-sniper team its already too late and hes probly not comming back. and then back to the money aspect..... once has this ever happened that someone like this has been attacking people at random..... in order for this to be effective youd need to have a sniper placed every 800 meters or so....... THATS ALOT OF PEOPLE DOING NOTHING!!!!! you cant fund it. its just not posible...... your better off letting gun laws get thinner and thinner untill everyone carrys one and they just shoot the **** out of the van that a gun was fired from........ get the point? the more you try to come up with a defence for this the less likely it is to work!Quote:

I agree with you on the not easy part (Class 12-83 Ft. Ord, CA) when it comes to the school... The urban part though I have to disagree... It is a lot easier to find a hide in an urban area where one won't be noticed. People tend to ignore things they see each day. that in and of itself makes finding a good hide and making the shot that much easier.Quote:

Terrorist networks have a LOT of money... They can afford to finance just about any operation they want to. 800 meters is an average shot for a military sniper there is no need to place a sniper every 800 meters. One sniper team can do a lot of damage far in excess of their own numbers. A prime example is the Warsaw (sp) uprising during WW II... THere were something like 43 jews that managed to get weapons and they held up 2 divisions for months... IT took completely leveling the city to stop them. one team of sniper per city would be enough to rasie some serious hell in the US.Quote:

I agree 110% with you on this one... Gun laws do not effect the people they are aimed at... Criminals... the only people effected by gun laws are those of us who are not going to break the law in the first place... There are a lot more crimes stopped by armed law abiding citizens then are commited with guns in the US each year...Quote:

the only way you are going to be able to stop this kind of crap from happening in the future is to get people to pay more attention to what is going on around them as they go about their day... People in general are to worried about what might happen if they get involved... Just look at how many times people in NYC watch (or listen) as someone is murdered, raped, robbed, etc. and do nothing about it what so ever... They all "just didn't want to get involved..." When we can change that attitude then this kind of thing will be harder to pull off... ( no offense to anyone from NYC intended...)Quote:
