Pot Smokers Please Read.. RA

Yo man, i feel for this kid. Bud is harmless, and i dont see why its illegal, but it is. And as for that **** about it being a gateway drug, and that it leads to coke and **** is some bull. The only thing smoking pot leads to is driving down to wendy's to get some food cause you hungy as a motha ****a. Anyway, i got a meeting with my probation officer in a few hours, and ****, i know im gonna get drug tested. What am i doing you ask? I'm smoking a PHATASS SPLIFF cause i know im ****ed. Oh well, i'll be gone for a week or so. Peace

its only a gateway drug because the feds defined it as such... ive never felt the need to go start doing cocain or heroine or anything because of smokeing.... id NEVER start anything like that, its jsut retarded

Before you go flaming me, read the whole thing and think it out.

Marijuana IS the gateway drug, and before you flame away, let me explain why. The government turned it into the gateway drug. Almost every teenager on the face of this planet tries marijuana, and almost every person on the face of this planet KNOWS that marijuana isn't as bad for you as the government works it up to be. Now I'm not saying that marijuana doesn't do any damage, maybe it does maybe it doesn't, but it sure as hell is NOT as bad as the government works it up to be. Now what does this have to do with it being called a gateway drug you ask? Well all your life through middle school, and through high school you are being told how evil marijuana is... Just say "No". They don't give you any facts, they don't give you any experiences, they just tell you "It is evil say no". Well obviously teens are still going to try marijuana. When so many people are doing it in your school you are bound to at least try it. Well the kids try it, and guess what? It isn't even close to as bad as the teachers and government worked it up to be. You didn't go crazy, you didn't try to rob an old lady, you actually kicked back and enjoyed yourself. Even if you didn't like it, the drug still wasn't even close to as bad as it was worked up to be by the people you are supposed to trust and look up to. So you smoke for a little while, and someone comes along with this drug called coke. Well you're not to keen on putting something up your nose, but you were lied to the first time about marijuana being evil, so you figure they are lying to you about coke. You do some coke (doesnt have to necessarily be coke, just using it as an example), and low and behold, it makes you a little hyper and your nose doesn't bleed like they told you. Lied to again. From there it is different for everyone. Some people will keep doing the drug, and get addicted or just do it occasionally, some people will do it and not like it and move on to other drugs. What I'm trying to say by this example is, you are lied to the first time, so why would you trust what they say about the other stuff. Everyone knows heroin can kill you and a lot of people it does, but when you discover that the people you trust are blowing things way out of proportion, you start to think "well if they lied to me about this, then they are lying to me about that". Hence the people you are supposed to look up to and trust are causing marijuana to be a gateway drug by exagerating so much about it's effects, and causing themselves not to be trusted anymore.

That is my thoughts on the whole gateway drug thing. At least that's how it worked for me. I've tried so much, that I never would have if marijuana wasn't being so worked up by the people you are supposed to trust. The just say "no" policy doesn't work. They should give people the facts about these drugs and let them make their own educated decision on what they do. By making something seem terrible when it really isn't they are causing people not to trust them, and if anything causing more drug use, and deaths from hard drugs such as heroin.

The politicians need to get re-elected somehow though, and the war on drugs is the perfect way to gain public support, while killing them at the same time. By the way, anyone see those commercials during the super bowl where they compare the high school teen smoking marijuana to a terrorist? There whole theory is terrorists make money off of drug sales. Maybe they should mention who trained Bin Laden, and funded Al Quedo before they were our enemy? Or what about all those gas stations that get their supplies from the middle east. Oh well, the whole point is "Drugs are bad, MmmmmKaay?". Politics are really starting to piss me off. :)

You are right, you do decide what you do... But what you are informed of certainly affects what you choose to do. Like I said above if you are being told by the people you trust all your life that something is evil, then you find out it isn't at all like they said.... You start questioning what you have been told about other things. But you are right about you being the one who decides what to do. It is up to the person to research something on their own and to draw their own conclusions, which is something that should be done before you try any drug. The one topic in this thread I haven't touched yet is the whole public smoking thing. I don't smoke cigarettes, they actually make me sick. But if someone chooses to smoke then that is there choice. Quite a few of my friends smoke, and I don't get on their case about it, unless we are in a small room and everyone lights up at once. Then that is just rude and inconsiderate. Everyone should be aloud to smoke outside if they want, I hear stories how that is getting banned, and that is ridiculous. But as far as restaurants go, I think that they should have a smoking, and non-smoking section. They have those here in NJ. If they don't have a smoking section, then smoking shouldn't be aloud just because everyone's health should be taken into consideration. As I've said before as long as it doesn't hurt anyone else, do whatever you want with your body.

they may have started, but i doubt thats what CAUSED them to start using heroine, more peer pressure type **** then gateway influenced

Ok lets say they never started smoking hash with friends, as many people do for a peroid of their life including myself! Ok do you think they would advance on to other harder drugs if they had never been involved with the ol' wacky.

You dont just feel bored one day or desperate and go buy some heroin!!!
Surely you must get into the whole system from lighter drugs.

Im not saying everyone in fact only a small majority would end up using heroin lets say but that still means by the fact that some people go from hash to heroin that cannabis is a gate way drug.
