well as for me , i still believe it'a a war on ISLAM, if u read ur posted link ( report by :Jill Serjeant ) u'll find that it says:

and if u look to the ME region , country by country, u'll find that everybody is fighting us.
Iran, Iraq, Palestine, Syria, Lebanon and others, only Islamic countries.

Your absolutly right bimmer! Both sides only hear what 'others' want us to hear. We go threw life being told by wiser people, believe none of what you hear and half of what you see, yet here we are....
this convo has been up and down the block and hit a lot of very touchy subjects on all sides. Tedob1, due to the fact I went home for X-mas (which I would like to wish happy holidays to all) and I am on dial up now :( I cant seem to find any articles which say what nationality these races are... Alas I looked and couldnt find. I was wondering if anyone else was able to find out if these arrests were more than just muslims. I would like to know if the journalist was guilty of yellow journalism or not.
cheers and I hope we can keep this discussion on track and not attempt to solve the worlds discrimination on a thread because it wont happen, it takes time understanding and perhaps a miracle.
I am an American who has lived outside of the US in several European countries for over 30 years. I have encountered the same intolerances, created by fear, just about everywhere I've been. People fleeing South Africa, Turkey, Croatia, India, Sri Lanka etc and it is not just to the United States. It is to the entire - what we call Western world - and wanting just to get jobs and support there familes. Many of the ïmmigrants are "economic refugees" their lives are not really in danger, they just can't get jobs at home. Then too there is the "brain drain" wealthy nations encourging the best brains to leave home and come work in the West.
I believe in the ideals of the USA, freedom of religion etc. but I also do not object to being properly registered, even finger printed in the country in which I reside. I live by the laws in the country in which I reside. It requires registration for all alien residents basta! you do it or you go back where you came from.
Intolerance always rises out of fear. Fight your fears not your neighbors!
No country in this world is free to point the finger and judge another. Let the country that has no misdeeds rise and be accounted for! Are you there??????????? No, because you do not exist.
I openly admit to many of the US's ignorant and oppressive policies. Iran Contra, drug war, slavery, whatever people care to dig up. If one looks back in history you will clearly see that we are not even at the cusp of the infancy of our countries history. We are and continue to be the largest mixture of cultures and religions to experiment with the rule of people in the history of the world. We are trying to make it work in an increasingly hostile and cold world.
If someone attacks your home and your family what do you do? Do you leave you door open to more attacks? No, self-defense is an intrinsic human quality that is not bound to our world of ideals! If you neighbor is attacked, do you begrieve him his defense? No! Do you go to him when he seeks your counsel and say well remember when you didn’t send a Christmas card to Mr. Jones or remember when last summer at the block party you hit on Mrs. Smith while in the midst of a drunken haze? No. If the world has anything constructive to say and wants to help then do so. If all you can do is criticize then continue to do so. Because to me it sounds like so much tinny canned laughter on a TV sitcom. MHO!
Spyrus, the people are from 5 different 'suspect' countries. So if this is a nation wide plan why are there only reports from calif? makes me think maybe this has more to do with the way immigration policies are handled in calif!?!
coz' it says ( were in southern California jails on Wednesday after coming forward to comply with a new rule to register with immigration authorities )
so it seems that it's happening only in Cali. .. think so !
