I never did anything to cause even the slightest bit of intrigue into my surfing habits until my father began constantly monitoring what I was doing on my computer. He would try and sit with me when I was having chats with my friends and such. After a while if you keep such a distrustful attitude about your child's surfing habits he/she will figure "If I'm going to be constantly monitored by my father/mother it should at least be for a reason" and begin doing things just because he/she knows that you won't trust him/her anyhow. I'm not saying that it's not a good idea to keep track of what you child is doing on the internet. It is a good idea. Just remember, by constantly displaying a lack of trust in your child you will perminately ruin your relationship. If your child knows that you do not trust him/her then he/she will slowly sever all contact with you, as he/she might feel as though you are constantly judging all actions. It was said earlier that if you would like to know what your child is doing on the internet then you should ask. One more thing, let your child close and occasionally lock his/her door as there is NOTHING wrong with this. Everybody needs privacy occasionally. You can probably tell by now that I've grown up into a pretty screwed up adult as a result of my parent's distrust in me as a child. Don't let this happen to your kid.
