40 Posts and i havent heard 1 person say IP Spoofer? I'm guessin it wont work? I dunno why it woulndt though. Just activate ur IP spoofer to the IP u want and send ur email. Or u can connect to a proxy and send it through a proxy and the IP will be of the proxy's IP. Or u can go to a friends house send ur email haha.
Let me ask a few questions:
1. How private do you want to be? Are you looking to hide your workstations IP address or are you trying to keep from getting spammed to death once your e-mail address gets know on the Internet?
If you send e-mail from your workstation via a dial-up or broadband through your ISP, the e-mail will show your ISP's e-mail server ip address and your IP address (dial-up or Broadband).
If you send e-mail via another mail server, (Hotmail, cyberspace etc..) the same info will be available.
You can use an e-mail anonymizer but mose e-mail servers will not accept mail from those becuase the spammers have abuse those services in the past.
If you try to alter your e-mail headers to try and mask the e-mails starting point, most anti-spam e-mail server software will see this and reject the mail. The e-mail still needs to get to the remote mail server and there will be a trail to follow even if you munge the headers. Most e-mail server admins who go to the trouble of setting up strong anti-spam programs on their servers, are willing to help other admins trace the starting point of an e-mail. The process may be the following:
1. Your mail is bounced by the remote server, there will be a log showing this and it will include the IP address of the previous systems that sent or passed on the e-mail.
2. I contact that previous systems admin and request help in tracing the e-mail.
3. He checkes his logs and finds a record of the e-mail passing his system. This log will include the previous system that send / passed the mail.
4. If this previous system is not the origiator, go to step 1.
5. If it is the originating e-mail server. I request information about the user who sent it. Most ISP's will not give out user info to another admin. They would ask for all relevent logs and tracking I have done and then check their logs. If there is a match, you could get the following:
a. Kicked of your ISP if you broke their acceptable use policy
b. A warning not to continue this behavior.
c. Nothing
If you are not doing anything wrong, just trying to hide your IP or hide your location, I don't think that is illegal or against anyones TOS (Terms Of Service). If it is, steps a - could occur. If you are doing a spam run, chances are good that the e-mail will get tracked. Anti-spammers are notorious about tracking spam and they will go to great lenghts to try and stop it.
In the normal course of events on the Internet, all traffic can get traced to it's source. In order for a network to have two way communication, both sides need to know how to contact the other. There are ways to spoof an IP address but most of these processes will only allow one way comminucation. Since the IP is spoofed, the ACKS will go to the wrong space and not to the originator. I don't believe, judging by your request for information, that this is what you are trying to do. I believe that you are just trying to maintain a higher level of privacy with your e-mails. You may want to search Google for a service of this type. Again, most e-mail servers will not accept mail from these anonymizers but it may pan out to a service that will be right for you.

There are always ways of doing things, but there are always going to be ways of figuring out at least where a message of any sort came from. That is just the way it works.
Even if you masked your who you were, there are still electronic "tracks" that re very hard to get rid of. You can kind of use the same concept as sending real mail.
Example:Get in you car and find a big blue mail box away from where you live and use gloves to write and mail the letter to hide your finger print, then the only "tracks" that you would leave behind would be either your handwriting or the ink from the printer. Harder for them to find you, but not impossible.
Same concept can be had electronically, go somewhere such as a library or something create a dummy mail account somewhere and use that so send your e-mails. Harder to find out who sent the e-mail as the mail example, but still not impossible. This method would not be illegal or immoral!

could give your self " ghost " IPs. Whether or not you have the knowledge or
exp. is you.
Why can't you just use a library computer? i think that would be a lot easier.
well, I was wrong there , i did not know that it keeps your sending ip...still learning (your location)( which is no excuse ) ... still the issue, howfar can you get with an ip number to track down your name adress etc etc ..... this is still the question, maybe in the wrong area of disccusion but well.... i mean when your sitting in a library or something you still be pretty anom....

I'have found that nice mailserver that you can send mail direct with your pc without using a smtp server by your isp than My ip is still visible, but with a little of work you can just running it fine!

One reason for keeping the IP private would be if you're running an exchange server and you have stealth DNS configured and you don't want outsiders to figure out your only WAN facing IP. Many small companies that can't afford a full time IT Security person will have their enterprise website hosted off-site and have only 1 external IP for exchange or sendmail to get mail, which is the only inbound hole in their firewall to the switch based network.
