K here comes the complete how do i do this without thinking to much guide.
STEP 1.
A. Download the file in my post .
B. Now in windows extract the wininit.exe out of the zip file.
Optional but adviseble
C. Scan the wininit.exe for virii.
STEP 2.
A. Put the wininit.exe on a working bootable floppy. For easy finding let's put it in a folder called
fix.
STEP 3.
A. Boot the computer we need to fix with the floppy.
B. Go to the drive where windows is installed, usually c:\(The command for this is simply c:)
C. Go to the windows folder.( cd c:\windows)
D. Copy the file from the floppy drive to the c:\windows folder (copy a:\fix\wininit.exe c:)
STEP 4.
A. Take the floppy out of the drive
B. Reboot the computer

We still have to get rid of Xabot don't we ?
Disable System Restore (Windows Me/XP).
Reverse the changes that the worm made to the registry and restart the computer.
Update the virus definitions.
Run a full system scan and delete all the files detected as W32.Xabot.Worm.
Enable System Restore

How bout that for win98? would an updated trojan scan be enough?

Try it.
Scan in safe mode and then tell us the results. And what u used to scan with.

Ok ive downloaded a program that scans for trojans called a2 but it doesnt load up the scan page so i was wondering if anyone recommends any other program that i could use?

I bought the Pro version, and it works real good for me, don't know how it takes in a potentially corrupt environment, but there is a 30 day evaluation version of the Pro you can D/L for free, and they have a free version as well.

I downloaded the free version of SwatIt and after updating it it hadnt found any trojans??

Does spybot still give you the xabot error ?
