BS! it is not your normal job. if so, why are we praising them for? Who cares if they leave their family for over a year behind, right? Who cares that they have to wear a bullet proof vest and walk around with guns to shoot ppl who wanna kill them? That's normal!
You are full of ****. You quite obviously have never served your country in any capacity. In my time served in the Navy my job was VERY 9-5 and VERY like a 'real job' in the civilian sector when not at war. You see, I was an electrician. I specialized in motor rewinding and motor controller repairs, and served 'double duty' in my ship's electrical power plant as well. Often I was called to other commands or even ashore to assist other units in all branches of service with motor/generator related issues. When in home port, I spent 1 day in 5 actually sleeping onboard ship. The rest of the time I was required to work from 8am to 5pm at my primary job.

First of all, I wasn't aware that I needed an X amount of posts to express my ideas in this forum. I thought that's what AO addicts was for. Secondly, you don't have to get personal, I'm probably older then you , have a sh!tload of responsibilities in my life right now and my Job is pretty close to a military one.
I seriously doubt you're older than Foxyloxley, however I don't count you a child. I do, however, count you now as a SCREAMING idiot. You cannot compare your responsibilities in your cushy civilian life to those of a servicemember - they're not anywhere close. I'm quite sure you don't float around the earth on a 58000 ton battleship, I'm quite sure you're not responsible for a multimillion dollar electrical plant, or the lives of 1500 other men should your plant fail during combat operations. Get a clue. Strike 2.

I totally get your point. However it doesn't justify a policeman to pull a gun on every car stop. if they had time to talk about the guy who was pretending to be dead and joke about it, then they had time to pull his blanket off and make sure he didnt have a bundle of explosives on him.
The local police departments are the closest profession to the military a person can get into. They put their lives on the line every single day for your safety. For the record, a policeman *can* pull his weapon any time he sees fit to do so, even on every single car stop if he wishes. The reason they don't is out of courtesy to whomever they've stopped and not wanting to incite panic in that person. It's a choice the cop makes, policy cannot and will not set that for him.
