Yes I have read that as well :D
However, what I am referring to are people who tend to live rather sedentary lives and have a low intake of fruit, vegetables and roughage in general.
They take these laxatives to maintain their normal bowel functions and come to believe that they have to take them.
All that is required is a change in diet and a bit more exercise. Prunes are good, so are olives and some high bran cereal. Fruit juice rather than coffee and tea............ and so on.
When I worked in the pharmaceutical industry, bulk forming laxatives were one of our major product lines............ I once was asked to test a new product that was not a bulk former............arrrghhh!
Our head of R&D was quite amused, saying: "I wondered what the effect would be on someone with a naturally high fibre diet, Johnno"
Actually, bulk formers are very good for the chronically constipated such as bedridden, wheelchair bound and post operative recuperation cases.

Not just mine, like I said man, I'm not the only one who's been under treated. Hell that girl in the first post had a broken back and they said to take Motrin... To me that's abuse, and torture.
I've been thinking, after my degree is done in networking, which if almost is, why not go for something in medicine. There is a movie I own and love called "Dr. Gore" why not make that real? I mean obviously I know something about medicine, and I've even made recommendations to family members over the years, who then went to a Dr and were told the same thing.
Would be neat being a Dr.
