Pirated Vista -- A darkness descends!

Yes dalek, I know what you mean. Actually, from what I have seen and been hearing Win 95 and Vista seem to be a similar experience :D

Actually Win 95 was released late and incomplete. Win98 was what it was intended to have been, but there were performance issues, so Win98SE is what I would consider to be the "finished article"

Quite a few people that I deal with had problems in going from Win98SE to XP. It was much less of a culture shock if you had been using Win2000/ME, particularly both. I think that is what Moira is referring to?

I'm tired :confused: I meant to say Windows 3.1 and Windows 95.

I've been running Vista Ultimate on one of my laptops... I hated it until I finally got it to look and act like Windows 2k.

No problems since.

I also have a pirated Vista Ultimate that hasn't had any problems running on my roommate's laptop.

Not sure when this activation/antipiracy nonsense is actually going to kick in.

Well, I don't know much about Windows 3.1 simply because I wasn't into computers then. I first got a computer when my Dad passed on his old one, running 3.1, but it wasn't long before I upgraded to Windows 95.

I think my first experience with DOS was MS DOS 4 which was installed on the PC with windows 3.1. Could be wrong, but that rings a bell. It's all such a long time ago now....

If that was Windows 3.1 then it would be MS DOS 5.0 or 6.2. I have just found the floppies for a Tulip computer. They are MS DOS 4.01 and Windows 3.0, they are dated 1990.

DOS 5.0 came out in 1991 and 6.2 in 1993. Windows 3.1 came out in 1992, so it would have run on one of those versions.

Ah right - it might have been DOS 5.0 then. It was a long time ago now and I didn't use it for very long.
