Frankly, you are becoming a little bit of a pain in this thread. I understand your point fully but faqt isn't the normal little kid coming in looking to have their homework done for her, (she may be a normal little kid but the similarity stops there.... ;) ), and you should be able to differentiate between her and those kind of people. She has stated clearly that she has done a lot of work behind the scenes trying to work out her problem and she has a problem with it.
Trolling for a flame now? Perhaps you should spend thirty seconds or more and read my previous post.

I hope you are absolutely capable of solving all your problems and understanding all the problems and concepts you will come across in computing.
I am because I make the effort.

If you can't then your attitude in this thread may come back to bite you... well.... you know.... should you ever come here and ask a question that we, reading this thread, know the answers to.
I'm all for discussion, and I'm all for people asking questions. I will not likely ever ask a technically-derived question of the AO crowd, but would rather ask the three or four people here who actually know more than I do about various topics.

I'm sure you'd hate to be told to "do your homework yourself" while your a$$hole boss is breathing down your neck.
Where is the ******* boss in this situation?

They are a series of observations.... take them as you will.
Amusing how when I say something it is an attempt to flame someone, whereas when you do the same it is "a series of observations".

Assuming the admin has done nothing to subvert/divert telnet on the client and that telnet is functioning exactly as it is supposed to.
Mistake #1: Making assumptions.
Mistake #2: Making assumptions based on other assumptions.

For the edification of the rest of us would you care to elucidate?
No, you seem to posess all the answers, so I don't need to do I? Most anyone with enough technical know-how to setup and monitor their own network + firewall should have enough of a clue to come up with half a dozen unexplored suggestions.

You seem to think it can be done, yet you also imply that it can't..... if you feel it "gives the game away" right now.... PM me your solution..
If that is what you garner from my posts then that's your observation. I believe that there are unexplored avenues, but without knowing the configuration details of the firewall in question, nobody can create answers. I can tell you where people went WRONG in this particular line of thinking.
Perhaps I should list the facts you guys have obviously all missed. Maybe with a little bit of brain engagement and know-how you could come up with the ideas I've already come up with.
1. There is a firewall between the client computer and the internet.
2. Telnet, like almost all applications that are not services will always pull a random high-numbered source port when initiating outbound connections.
3. Web browsing apparently functions. This indicates applications which pick random high-numbered source ports function to some degree.
4. Using Telnet to connect out does not apparently function. This may be user error, but more likely it is something below the user level.
There are numerous conclusions one could reach, but a better avenue of approach may be to actually come up with possibilities and try them.
