Bush Wins!!!!

I spoke with someone who was going to vote for Kerry, and I asked him 3 questions;

1. Who do you think will keep you and your kids safer in a Post 9/11 America?
a> Bush
2. Who do you think will do a much better job defending America?
a> Bush
3. So how come you are voting for Kerry?
a> I don't know, I think we need a change.

I asked the same questions to a few other Kerry voters and they all said almost the same.

Unfortunately a lot of the votes that Kerry got are from people like that....people who did not think it through and people who do not have a real Idea about what they're voting for.

Unfortunately for Bush, a lot of the people who voted for Kerry, really hated Bush...which is really not something you want from your people....but do those people even know why they hate him? I can understand where the mother's who lost their child in the Iraq war are coming from....but a lot of people don't even know why...

oh well, anyways, Bush won...AHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAH to all those Kerry supporters who funded him and good luck to Hillary Clinton in 4 years ;).

Seen plenty of Kerry supporters and Bush supporters around here, but never seen any of them just walk up to someone and say something like that....while unprovoked...

You're starting to back your arguments the er0k-way, Cybr1d: based on bullshit ;)

Let's face it: 99% of ALL Americans have no clue about how Bush and Kerry think on economy or on education, for example. If you ask them on terrorism, sure... if you don't know how Bush thinks on terrorism by now...

And if you ask someone who will do a better job on the economy, and they answer Bush, ask them to explain what Bush's plan is... 9 out of 10, you won't get an answer, because they don't know (same for Kerry).

And maybe that's what happened: 99% of people didn't know **** about the candidates, apart from how they stood on terrorism, and "moral values". And that's what made up most people's minds: terrorism, and moral values. Economy? Who cares! Education and healthcare? Who cares! We only care about terrorism, and we know who'll do the best job on that one (and then it's time to ask them if they know what exactly the plan is, and if they know what the alternative was... again, 9 out of 10 won't answer you).

OK I know it wasn't your post but I was using it for an intro and since you asked what was so great about it and made a point to address you. Do you understand that about1/5 of the states out of 50 significantly outnumber ALL the rest? It may even be less than 1/5? The electoral college ensures as much as possible that EQUAL repesentation in the Executive branch is achieved throug Electoral votes. Even though the population of your state is insignificant to make any adjustment in terms of sheer numbers of votes, you as a state and it's people get more power by having electoral votes. So that in a small degree you can influence the election where otherwise you have no voice in D.C.

It's the same concept in the House of Representatives versus the Senate. In the legislative branch national balance is achieved by having 2 senators from EVERY state and then balancing that with having House members based on population. And the Judicial branch is balanced by all the above. The Executive nominates judges and Congress approves them.

So without the electoral college 20 or 30 states would never have a voice loud enough to influence a presidential election. We would never have opposition to what is poplular though in the megacities. Of course if you live in one of those states you would tend to say "****" the rest of America but then what is the point of Uniting under a single entity?

I think you are too quick to generalize Negative and once again are failing to recognize that America isn't Europe, the vast majority of America is much more conservative than Europe (even our liberals would trend moderate in some places). Unlike your assertion, I for one tried to follow the positions of both candidates and amidst all the mud slinging and insults it was quite difficult.

On the one hand you had the poor public speaker who harped on repeated simple slogans and statements and soundbites. You may tend to hear more in his personal interviews, but you could forget about it on the stump or at the debates. I don't like alot of the things that Bush has done, I am horrified at the public deficits (unlike the DNC I don't blame the tax cuts, I blame run-away federal spending), I am upset with his decision to go to Iraq, I am upset with the big-brotherish tendencies, and am upset with the administration's closed nature and unwillingness to discuss their own policies.

On the other hand you had the mealy mouthed opportunist in Kerry. While I tended to agree with alot of his complaints and statements, he was all over the map with them, often times directly contradicted what he had stated earlier. A major factor in deciding against Kerry was (to me) his seeming lack of a core, his tendency to change positions and beliefs based on convenience, and a clear tendency to act as an opportunist. So while at times I agreed with what he was saying, I could never feel comfortable that that was actually what he believed. I also had a problem with Kerry in that while he was quite good at pointing out problems and complaints, I rarely heard much about what he was going to do about it, other than to say he had a plan (and when he did, let the government take it over or raise taxes to pay for it, to me, as a conservative, was not what I considered a good one).

I honestly didn't really care for either candidate, but since the choice was tweedle-dumb or tweedle-dee, I chose Mr. Bush for the simple reason that he has made tough decisions and stood by them (which is a major component of leadership and something severely lacking of politicians in the US). I feel that he erred by not admitted obvious mistakes, but I do credit him for not letting his beliefs and goals flap with the prevailing winds as others have in the past. While I agreed with many of Kerry's complaints, I either didn't know what he would do to fix them, didn't believe he would do what he said, or felt that his plan wouldn't help matters.

Hopefully next time around there will be a better choice of candidates, ones that are more moderate and maybe just maybe we can have an election that isn't so divisive.

We can all hope I guess.

Just to add to that...a very significant number of people do not know who the vice president, OR the presidential candidates are(were). :D

But isn't that what politics is all about? Bullshit? :D

Ahh gotcha :) Most of the people that I work around and hang out with were in fact paying close attention to the races and could have told you the major positions of both candidates; however, I work with a bunch of highly educated people in a professional IT environment, so I guess that would be somewhat expected :)

Negative, but I did ask the individual those questions :D....if u want I can get ya a written Notarized statement that the individual we are speaking about, was indeed asked those questions and that those were his answers :D

I don't doubt you did, Cybr1d... just saying that I could go ask some local dumb-ass some questions and use his answers as proof that Texans are stupid... doesn't prove anything, and means even less... but it might be an interesting read :D
