Wow... I was talking to my dad about 3 hours ago... He just moved back to Missouri around a month ago from Louisiana. He lived in a town called Hammond, which is kind of in between NO and Baton Rouge. He saw footage on CNN about 5 blocks from his old house, with all the debris and destruction... Crazy...
Just to answer the original question (not that it hasn't already been answered): the entire world is right there to help, Tiger...
Every single country in the world offered its help before Bush turned on his TV and found out...
It's time to swallow some pride and save some lives... or do other countries have to swear that they won't ask for help back ("We helped you... WAAAHAWAAAHAHAHAHAH... You have to help us now!.. WAHAHAHAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHA"), and pledge eternal yadayada?
I think he was just breaking balls for shits and giggles. The foreigners will be here to help whether we asked for their help or not. Tragedies like this bring out the best in a lot of people, political differences aside. Tragedies like this also bring out the worst in a few **** heads.

And you know what, I saw their stuff on Modern Marvels and I was extremely impressed with that North Sea water gate the "Measlandkering"! (had to dig it up, I believe that's it) And the images online don't do it any justice because it shows the engineering skill and the ingenuity of the Dutch.

I've got to agree with the commontators is looks bad when the US can't airdrop some bottled water to the places where people have run to safety like the convention centre.
The National Guard are now scared to go into some areas (BBC). Someone should kick them up the arse and get them working.
GWB is coming out looking bad from this. The levees breaking had been predicted for years and again just last year but the funding to maintain and improve the levee system was diverted to pay for Ws Homeland security airport nudie scanners and other toys.

Ya, like half our country is below sealevel, we actually used to flood our own land so the spanish and everyone had a real hard time invading us... Untill the germans build airplanes.
We did offer to and prolly also did already send experts who inspect the dikes (spelling?) over here, but they prolly should've gone there before the storm since the dikes in new orleans obviously weren't in the shape they should've been.
It's goddamn Mogadishu down there and those rebels are high on khat!
