need an advice

I've known many people who lost jobs because they were harrassed or checked up on by the girlfriends/ex's.

If company wants to fire you, they don't need a harrasing you girlfriend/boyfriend/ex
When my ex-husband was badly harrasing me in office, my cheef took care of it and made impossible to him to enter the office.

Kudos for your chief!... but that's not usually how it works...how it usually works is this..' if your girlfriend calls here one more time checking up on you, you can start looking for another job...I can't have insecure jealous girlfriends calling every two hours interfereing with business '

there is a difference between a girlfriend with who you have to talk by phone and between an ex-girlfriend, whith who you are not talking on the phone because you don't want to. The best she can do is to talk to secretary and to hear that you are not in office or you cannot answer the phone right now.

I think you missed the point...girlfriend was just an example...same rule usually applies, and mostly more so, to ex's, lawyers, bill collectors, agents, freaks and stalkers.

I have another point of view
If you work in respectable company they don't throw you on street because someone is harrasing you, they help you to stop the offender
If you as a person or a worker don't represent much to respect, sure it's the easiest way to get rid of you
