Pure unadulterated bullsh*t, no the Muslims do not have strong hands when it comes time to protecting people of other faiths, in order for these other faiths to have protection they had to pay a tax Dhimmi, pure extortion....
Quote:
Under Muslim rule, dhimmis were allowed to observe the commandments of their religions, albeit with restrictions attached. In exchange, they had to pay taxes for the benefit of the Muslim community and faced additional regulations, some of them intentionally humiliating and serving to remind dhimmis of their inferiority vis-a-vis Muslims.[4] The overarching principle in the treatment of dhimmis is encapsulated in the statement: "Islam is exalted, and nothing is exalted above it".[5] In the words of the British historian Bernard Lewis:
It is only very recently that some defenders of Islam began to assert that their society in the past accorded equal status to non-Muslims. No such claim is made by spokesman for resurgent Islam, and historically there is no doubt that they are right. Traditional Islamic societies neither accorded such equality nor pretended that they were so doing. Indeed, in the old order, this would have been regarded not as a merit but as a dereliction of duty. How could one accord the same treatment to those who follow the true faith and those who willfully reject it? This would be a theological as well as a logical absurdity.[6]
The treatment of dhimmis varied over time and space, mostly depending on the goodwill of the ruler. Arthur Tritton describes dhimmis living under the rule of caliphs as being vulnerable to the whims of rulers and the violence of mobs.[7] Dhimmis were allowed to live, and even prosper, according to historian Clifford Bosworth, largely because they practiced trades that Muslims valued, such as medicine, or because they performed functions that Muslims either could not perform for religious reasons, such as money-lending with interest, or viewed with disdain, such as money-changing.[8] Still, in the late Middle Ages, some Jews preferred living as dhimmis in the Ottoman lands to living under Christian rule; those immigrants were possibly lured by stories of greater religious freedom and opportunities for social advancement.[9]

And yet we in the non believer western world are happy to allow Muslims to follow and practise their faiths without fear of reprisals or payment of special tax..(what do you want to bet that these other religions in Canada are allowed Tax exemption status)
Quote:
In Canada there is no established church, however religious groups can qualify for tax-exemption. The amount of funding religious schools receive varies from province to province. In many provinces religious schools are government funded in the same way other independent schools are. In most parts of Canada there is a Catholic education system alongside the secular 'public' education system. They are run on Catholic principles and include religious activities and instruction as a matter of course. They are not exclusively attended by practicing Catholics; in fact many non-Catholics (and non-Christians) prefer these schools for either the quality of education or the opportunity to be educated in an environment where morality and spirituality are not excluded.
Again like most countries, the specific form of separation unique to the US does not apply here. There is no restriction on government funding of 'faith-based' activities. Religious activity in schools is not excluded constitutionally (though in public schools it is usually not undertaken).
The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, which is entrenched in the Constitution, states in the preamble that Canada "is founded upon principles that recognize the supremacy of God and the rule of law." [3]. Freedom of religion as also guaranteed. The Supreme Court of Canada, in the case of Her Majesty The Queen in Right of Canada v. Big M Drug Mart Ltd., [1985] (1 S.C.R. 295) ruled that a 1906 statute that required most places to be closed on Sunday did not have a legitimate purpose in a "free and democratic society", and was an unconstitutional attempt to establish a religious-based closing law (see Blue law.)
