What was the point of this rant again??

I normally just avoid these types of posts because it goes back to what the originator is bickering about and that is its a worthless post.

Is anyone here a security expert? In my opinion there are quite a few of them lurking around and they pop in when they either feel like helping or think you are sincere about your request.

Antipoints: I dont think anyone has said they are a great thing but in general they serve their purpose and are used to steer someone the right way... Do some people get them for posting in nonsensical sections of the forums and for something not security related... yup so what. Is there a bias towards females? from what I can tell yes. who cares? (other than you obviously)

It's been stated already; this site makes for a great resource. I am by no means an expert on any matter but ill sure as hell try to help someone out if I know something about it.

IRC: There are plenty of options for an IRC server... use one or dont. From a corporate standpoint I could see why Jup Media wouldnt want to sanction something like this.

As far as bringing everyone back... life happens, i am assuming most of the people listed have moved on to different things and focus on different goals in their lives.

As far as you: I dont know you. From what I have seen with all the personal attacks in this thread I would have to say the fact you don't have any negative dots blowing your account away shows some major restraint from everyones perspective.

The thread is quite valid if approached from a reasonable perspective, rather than an immediately antagonistic assumption that the site has deteriorated?

My quick bit of research into 4 years back was quite enlightening. And one has to remember that
there was an IRC to let off steam in as well! To put it bluntly, the standard of posting was on average much more juvenile/trite or whatever you like to call it.

We had much greater problems with skiddies and Trolls.................flame wars were rampant, and to put it very bluntly, the AP alliances were so blatant I am surprised there are so many survivors :eek:

Basically, as others have noted in this thread, the site has gone commercial and has matured. It is far more professional IMO today than it was this time 4 years ago.

People have changed? their lives, interests, priorities and responsibilities have changed also..........that is progress?

Hey, I can remember when I first lurked on AO............it was with a 28.8 dial-up :eek:

this place used to be awesome. Now, I feel sorry for people who even use this site as a "resource." A resource for what? Every single topic discussed on this forum only skims the surface of a much, much deeper, detailed field of study. Not to mention anything computer related isn't even a priority around here in the first place.


P.S. - Who banned Terrr? Why ban Terrr? Looking at his 3 green dots I can only assume that the majority of people liked him a bit more than they disliked him.

I didn't ban him as I just got home, though a little investigation pulled up multiple accounts. The other is still un-banned.
