I always thought the aps were supposed to make this place a little more fun--they're not life or death.
BTW, I was reading through some of the posts in this thread and I find it quite funny that one of the senior members that is quite happy about the change so people will stop blankly negging him actually did the same to me in a thread he didn't even post in. I'm not bitching, and it's not a big deal, but it did make me laugh.

i'l tell you what i think. all of the newbies are gonna hand out craploads of pos ap's to seniors in hopes of getting pos ap's back and none of them are going to hand out neg ap's to seniors in fear of getting banned which means seniors can do whatever the hell they want.
I also see senior neging wars happening if one senior gives neg ap's to another. all i know is newbies watch out and don't dare hand out any neg ap's no matter what a person posts or how much rank they have. you never know what newb is buddied up whith some senior member who's just waiting to throw around some negs.
by the way....... i think i have only given out 1 neg ap the whole time i've been here and i sent a message to that user to let them know why but that was my choice. this is not
and anyway i don't really give a rats ass about ap's anyway. i just use this site for info and if you neg me or get me banned i'll just change my ip, use one of my many email address, and rejoin under "Lithium89" ha ha ha

I can't speak for all, but I think I can speak for most when I say that the seniors got to be seniors by not doing things like that.
That can be true, but not always. I like to give out points, some to seniors, but mostly to the newbies. Some people dont care either way when they recieve a point, but for others it might just make their day.Quote:

I have'nt been using this account for too terribly long and i have given out a ton of AP's especially when you consider how few i have myself. Just look at the snapshot at the bottom of this post.
I don't want you guys to see me as a kiss ass because i like to hand these points out, and i have gotten accustom to not getting them back.... just as it should be. People like me arent the ones with all the knowledge, so obviously i should'nt be rewarded with any special benefits, but thats not gonna stop my AP habits. I like to hand them out, i expect nothing in return and this makes me happy.

I feel that this is a good thing for AO as a whole.
Explanation being that I have never liked the "AP" system as a whole, because it is (was) a blind system. Those that may have been approving to curry favor, or those that were disapproving to knock someone else down will be equals.
If you like and feel that you are reading a good post, you will approve...on the other hand, if you feel that the post is worthless, you will disapprove. The difference is that the object of your agreement or dissention will know who you are. Will that change anything? I hope so.
I'd rather everyone be honest and support themselves with logic, and not be spiteful and irresponsible.

I would like to point out that the pole does not include an "indifferent' or "not sure" choice. I didn't vote. I have read through all of these posts and I am still undecided. I always signed my AP assignments anyway, I was repremanded several times for doing so too. I will just wait and see how this all turns out. In the mean time, lets just all remember to love our neighbors.

well, everything is going to be good about this system.
However, the one negative aspect is that newbies won't be able to neg seniors.
Well, that's sad.
However, no system can be perfect.
