I consider myself as having some mundane coding skills and somewhat capable computer skillz. I made it to L8 with no problems, at L9 came to the forum and stumbled on the .PSD file, and hit a wall here on L10.
So far the ambiguity has just left me speechless. I monkeyed out the stuff there, but am left stuck by the use of domain. I can't find a server where it's been suggested, or suggested. I getted the bizzare text, use'em password, decrypted obvious clues which are totally useless, re-arranged the letters cause, you know, it contains the words "flash" and "hack!" Patience? Yes, I am getting old. My Dendrites aren't regenerating the way they use-ta, but I've tried everything I can think of. Maheo! What am I missing?
BTW, Photoshop is an industry standard, so you should be able to open a .ps or .psd file in any good image editor. I used my old Paint Shop Pro.

Well, I ended up going back to the site only to have Firefox give me a "Server Not Found" message. Man. I went to hackertest.net followed my steps and ended up at the next level. I am beginning to think this intentional.

Okay, I haven't done this for a while so I went back through it. The .PSD is as far as I got last time, but the username and password didn't work. They did today. But I have been ripping my hair out at the Crack the Password page.
I found a <p> tag with a space in a it and have been going blind looking for some password. I assume needs to be entered on the previous page. Any clues would be most appreciated.

I worked on that one for so damned long. Thank you. I feel like a such a jackass. Unfortunately I read too far ahead so I know what to do with the password now, but I skimmed over most of the rest so I should have a decent shot at not having it spoiled.
Found out the problem I had with that source view, my work PC didn't scroll, only showed the top. My home PC scrolled all the way through it.

Mostly what you need is:If you fuss with Linux you will already have The Gimp which is great, but I can't get it to work right. I used my old copy of Paint Shop Pro. It used to be it's own company (JASC), but now is owned by Corel. Photoshop is the industry standard (Adobe), any native files from PS (*.ps) will open in any real graphics editor, but not the other way around, usually...
- A working knowledge of the Internet and HTML. CSS, PHP, and all the other goodies that go along with it.
- A REAL graphics editor. Microsoft's "Paint" is not worth a "plug nickle."
- A working knowledge of the way the operating system displays graphics.
- Games and Theory...

wow im on like lvl :cough: 4. i really dont have a workin knowledge of HTML, CSS, PHP, or anyother goodies that go along with it. more like a general understanding. i have gimpshop, inskape, artrage, project dogwaffle, and smoothdraw nx, only because i like to draw :D. i pretty much understand how the os displays graphics. i like to play with the registry. found out how to change my background from there. i like games so thats not a problem. i have this game call street legal racing and tryin to learn how to mod it. by adding mods i understand how the game works.
so am i covered? T_T
I reckon most people could get to around level 7 without specialist tools or knowledge. Hell, you can google the answers up to a point!

I am completely stumped. I was able to do the rest by myself. I had it done before I even discovered this site. I read every single post and none of them have helped me with lvl 9 "crack the password." It's annoying.
I found the whole thing annoying - it did my head in at every level. I stopped doing it after level 7, partly because it seemed to involve downloading photoshop and partly because it got increasingly frustrating!
