Well personally, Mail Rebates are just plain annoying and stupid, and should be stopped.
Why carn't the store just hand over the cash?
It's not as though they don't have enough money hanging around in the till, it's just shop's would then be known as Bank's.
I don't know if that makes sense. But heck we are in the non-sense thread so it doesn't have to make sense right?
Well lets say you buy a50 CD Pack for 40 $, and it says 20$ in the mail rebate, and the actual 50 CD Pack to them costs 10$ when they order it, so now they order 2 more 50 CD Packs from the manufacturer(from your mail in rebate)money, sell them....make 80 bucks, give you your 20 back, and made a profit, and they reapeat that. And im just using small numbers here.Quote:

It has not caught on over here yet, but I suppose it will..........it is creating a timing difference in the cash flow..............I can remember the cheque (check) runs.........sorting out the big ones...........putting them in the magnetic tape eraser..............used to get you an extra 10 days credit, because the system needed the magnetic numbers :D So they had to process the "failed" items by hand........and they had laid off thousands of staff?
