The quote was from TS's post. I do however tend to stay up late and drink.......So if there is a confusion, it may well be my fault.

BlackIce, you do sound like a textbook. But in reality each department has its own way of working. We are big enough to have our own ECT, there's no need to train all of us to do everything. We specialize in different areas. The area you questioned me about is not my expertise. I'm a hardcore patrol cop. I work in the ghetto, graveyard hours. I deal with a variety of situations on a daily basis. But like Egaladeist mentioned, there's really no way of prooving who we are here. So if you choose to doubt me still, I offer you the opportunity of getting to know me. maybe you would like to take this in a pm. So the rest of the members dont have to read this tedious off topic argument. That's really all I can say. As far as initiating an investigation, that's pretty childish, but go ahead, i got nothing to hide. Bottom line.
God Bless and be safe.
jinxy...honest mistake mistake on both fronts...you actually quoted me not TS...and so the post seemed strange to me...no problem, all sorted out.
tinkerbell,
You're confusing me with Tiger Shark, " I can no more prove you aren't an active duty police officer any more than you can prove that I am a fuzzy faced 16 year old "
and the whole point of Cosmos is to discuss things...not PM's. And I stand by my earlier statement that you are not an active duty street cop.
Ok dude, whatever you say...stubborn.
Tink:
I guess I just posted for the good of my typing skills..... or should I take no response whatsoever as a good thing?
LMAO! He knows better than to mess with the Tiger Shark - after all, you're a celebrity now... Besides, why would you want a response from someone completely lacking in credibility? As for me, I agree with your posts here. You've said it much more diplomatically and eloquently than I ever could have. Salut!
Oh yea, i forgot, celebrity contest on the internet. BlackIce, you're such a kissass. This is why most of the old timers here left, because of ppl like you.
Tiger, what am I suppost to respond to here? I already made my point. if you don't get it, well, you can read it again. No point in repeating myself here. We differ in opinions, and so what? Stop trying to convince me because i am not trying to convince you of anything. it was a discussion, learn when to stop. That's usually when ppl are not getting anything out of it. I know i'm not.
Tink: You tried to say that your job was very like being in the military, which contradicted your previous statement that being in the military doesn't sound like a proper job at all.... and another statement where you said you didn't serve because you didn't think you could hack the things described.....
I was merely giving you a perspective on the differences between being a police officer in the USA and being a soldier doing police work in an insurgency.
I dunno.... I just thought you might have some observations.... apparently not... case closed....
Good luck.
oh no, you misunderstood me. I said the military imo is not your actual normal job. Much like mine. let me give you a simple example. I was notified of a change of tour for this upcoming friday. meaning , instead of going to work tonight at midnight, I gotta show up somewhere else friday morning and work a full day tour. Then I gotta go home, sleep for an hour or two, and go back to do my regular midnight shift friday night into sat morning. Meaning I gotta work two tours the same day with no sleep. Last night I had to transport a crackhead from the station house to prison. The prisoner decides to go ballistic on us, so corrections denied her admission ( it's a city jail where they get admitted until they see a judge). Now it's 4am and my partner and I are stuck with this load of ... We are told to take her to a special holding cell at another stationhouse. We get there, the supervisor decides she needed hospitalization. This sarg yells at me for uncuffing my prisoner , meanwhile I'm trying to figure out how the hell do you take a perp to the bathroom cuffed. So the prisoner starts to act up on us again. Decides she isn't going anywhere. We get into a brawl with her, after she throws her own "poo" on us. By the end of the tour my partner and I were exhausted and agravatted. And I didn't mention the days we get shot at, or the days we go on a gun run. The neighborhood I work at is a ghetto. These ppl see us as their enemies. A friend of mine went to the hospital because somebody at mcD's put a piece of glass inside his burger. he later on confessed he did it because he hates cops. Before I was a cop, i used to have a nice IT profession where all I had to worry was, getting my coffee, finishing up some deadline and going home. So no, I don't consider my job normal now and I love that. Because quiet frankly i got bored of the corporate world, got bored of sitting in front of a pc picking my brains out so I can make my boss richer.Quote:

In the military I can see the similarities. Sometimes you get no sleep, sometimes you get these stupid joe who's younger then you screaming at you because he has more rank, you walk around with a big target over your head and you get bombed at, shot at...you never know if you're gonna make it home to your family. Somebody mentioned in this thread that they throw themselves in front of a gun to save a civi. Well, i've done that too and it's part of the job. That's what we sworn in for.
You're right. I don't think I can go overseas and stay away from my family like this. I don't think I can risk my life and have my 5 month old son grow up without a parent because I was fighting a war for Bush.
If I didn't make myself clear now, then I dont know what would.
Fair enough... You definitely don't have the soccer moms and brake lights shift... ;)
I have a silly question though.... is there any difference in the ridiculousness of the concept of fighting a war "for Bush" in Iraq and you putting your ass on the line in a place filled with people that hate you to protect the unwilling from the crackheads and gang bangers and other general malcontents..... The concept seems very similar to me... :p
