ok, I am on level 14, only cuz my friend gave me the answers to 11-13, but i would like to know how to view the hidden layers using Gimp, because that is what I have....level 14 URL is http://www.hackertest.net/4xml.php and i am guessing the pics URL is http://www.hackertest.net/images/logo.gif and i right clicked on that and saved it to my desktop, so what do i do from there, how do i view the hidden file/password/or w/e is there by Using GIMP? any help would be great!! thx!!

Im new at this and a noob :), i was wondering if anyone could explain to me how do i find out if the password on Lvl 1 is on javasrcipt or C++ or Html or whatever... in other words how do i do it???

I stopped after I said "OMG I can't believe they call this a hack test" I mean seriously, who has ever rooted a box by finding the password in a background image? LAME...

I do agree that no one is going to put up a list of user's and pw's on a graphic that shows in the source code, however it does show you that you have to look at everything carefully, and that sometime people get lazy and encrypt links and other stuff by simple conversion.
plus the movie hackers was pretty good... I mean how much would it have sucked showing a bunch of twinkie eaters sitting in their underware while they spend 2 hours typing on a computer?
hackers was good, but unrealistic, like these websites. my only point here is that if a person wanted to learn about this subject, these sites are a real bad start.
They aren't intended to be educational, they are strictly "for amusement value only" ;) A bit like crossword puzzles and those Japanese number games you see in newspapers and magazines.Quote:

Okay, one was pretty easy, but i have absolutely no coding/hacking skills whatsoever, so could someone give me a gentle push in the direction of two?
Ok, about level 12. I was stuck on this for some time.
What I found out was that on hackertest.net you find the awnser in the logo, at the asia part, if you enlarge you can see that it says puta.php
But on hack-test.com I cant find either a world map or lvl 13 on the page hack-test.com/puta.php
So the pages are not really the same. If anyone could give some more clues about the level 12 on hack-test.com please tell ;)
level one is ok and easy but i cant seem to access level 2 i just get refreshnow message nothing else

In fact I found level 2 easier than level 1, but it was so long ago I have trouble remembering it. Having looked at the source code again, all I can say is see if you can find where it says please enter password :)
I'm stuck.
Got to level 10 by working through them properly, then saw some references to streetkorner.net, but this appears to be a search site. Is this right, or was the page changed? If so, could someone please tell me the site it was changed to.
Got to level 11 by guessing the .php, but now I'm totally stumped. Apparantly the answer is in the guestbook of streetkorner.net, but that doesn't even exist. :fpissed:
Could anyone tell me where to find the answer now, or alternately just give me the answer to get me to 12 if the site was truey removed?

Then you now need to find the .psd file, then open it in Photoshop / Gimp and remove the unlocked layers then you'll find the answer to advance to the next level.
the included.gif file includes the username and password...when typed in to the box on lvl 7, it just takes me to the message saying authentication failed. the source reveals this:

Looking at the .gif, have you noticed that the text doesn't quite align, and there seems to be a bit of discolouration behind it? That looks pretty suspicious to me...............
Reminds me of editing user manuals years ago (Windows 3.11 for workgroups and Office 4.3)...........they had lost the MS Word templates so I just created text boxes with an opaque background and typed over the top. The original text was still behind it.

Having a little trouble finding the .psd file that will get me past level 7. I've tried a few different names, but got nowhere. I appreciate the heads up, nihil.
I think it may be for another level, but I did find a .psd file. I layered it down and found a username and password, but they didn't quite work.
Guys, I've figured a bit of it out on level 20. In the source code it says: " Change domain, add "22332" at the end, reach it and then get hold of ..." Most of us will see it yeah but what does it mean? Well, lucky for me I knew that the text beaneath the logo was Base 64, so I translated it, it meant nothing. I kept translating. I almost gave up on the last one but translated it anyway. And low and behold, I got something! it said: "Go to www.streetkorner.net/gb now" And I did, but its just some silly scam website. Then I realised... "Change domain, add 22332 at the end". When typing it in, you are congratulated with... another website! I thought it was an error website, but it wasn't.

I didn't know what to do next, so I poked around in the source code, but there wasn't anything remotely interesting in there. So, I decided I would check the OTHER source code, (from level 20) again, I poked around in there and found out that at the bottom it said: "look above and right -->"
"... the admin panel of it and then go from there or be lost forever -->"
^ You see those dots? That means its a continuation of something... But what? "Change domain, add "22332" at the end, reach it and then get hold of ..." More dots at the end so... now what? I got stuck here. I'm not sure what it means by Admin panel and "look above and right".
Level 20? Pretty amazing :O It was harder than I thought... but managed to get to level 4
