I usually login every day to read what has been happening in this thread and I can't believe that it has gotten this long
I spend most of my time here anyway so I don't miss hardly anything when I am away from my computer I sometimes have to go back a page or two but that is about it :D
I have my RH 9.0 working :D Set up went great and it recognized my NIC, and I am on the net now. :D
Now Just gotta download some drivers, and snort, and nessus, and a whole bunch of otehr ****. lol
Cool now you are very l337 hehe
Maybe but more than likely I probably have a gazillion ports open since I don't really know **** about *nix yet. But I'm gonna download one of the port managers and play around with it. lol
Best way to learn I should do the same instead I am always sitting in front of my windows box
lol
Yeah I finally just got fed up and was bound and deteremined to know how to use *nix. So now that I'm off for thanksgiving, I'm gonna try my best to use nothing but *nix. I'm gonna use Wine to see if I can play my Windows games. lol
I am sure you will be able to get them to work but I have noticed that while using linux and freebsd I was trying to use windows keyboard short cuts and didn't work out very well :(
lol
No they don't work that well with *nix.
I have a copy of *nix downloading called Arch linux. It sounded pretty cool so I think I'm gonna try it out. Right Now I'm trying to figure out how to change my run level so I can install this driver. lol
I really should take the time to write a tutorial on some linux/freebsd toys and tools, getting kinda bored with writing
sh!t about windows
Well I succesfully edited the kernel and added runlevel 4 which took me to the comand prompt, I then succesfully installed teh Nvidia drivers, and succesfully got bat to xserver :D
Damn I good. lol
Well at least some of us here are busy with there little projects.
I've finished mine, and it was a disaster.
instead of the program launching it just formatted my hard drives.
Imagine my suprise when i got that dreaded screen of missery.
Not even the Three finger salute could save me..
cheers
creative...
Formatted your Hd ehh I hope you didn't lose any data when it happened and I hope you made regular backups of all data.
What the hell kind of a program was this.??? lol
edit:
I'm downloading Smoothwall now. lol
I love *nix.
ok cheyenne, who want to hear about you boring linux, btw: i downloaded Gentto, Yellowdog, FreeBSD, Mandrake and Suse. Now i have to try them all on my older machine.
I LOVE *UNIX
Damn. I wanted to see if thread could make a whole hour without a post.
This thread will never die. It is unstoppable.
I have a theory...
This thread is a conspiracy. Half the regular posters here do not exist. Jupiter Media is actually running a network of bots to keep this thread going so they can gain media coverage for breaking the record for the world's longest thread.
Hey Memory, I'm downloading Yellow Dog, have Arch Linux, Have Suse Linux Have two versions of Red Hat, Have Mandrake, Have Slackware, Have Gentoo, Have FreeBSD, OpenBSD, Knoppix, and now I'm going to have Smoothwall which is a linux firewall. lol
3300 and counting!
Heading for 4000!!!!
Hey Dead yeah i am making it a habit to make a backup every second day now.
I learnt that lesson when last month my hard drive decided to make funny noises. It was amusing becuase it kinda sounded like a Turbo.
And since i lost a heap of projects that i've done over the years i was really angry, so now evrey single day i make sure that i back up everything on all my hard drive's.
And then i will run the Virus Scanner, then run Adaware..
Then to make me happy i will run the scan disk and defrag every drive..
And at the moment my system is playing fair. But i'm awaiting for it to be naughty again.
Cheers
creative..
P.S{ it's nice to know that no-one's realised something knew yet.}
{Hint look under my user name}.
Cheyenne> Do you d'l new versions one at a time when they come out, or all at once every few months? 'Cause that would take like a week.
Creative> Let me be the first to congratulate you then creative. You really make AO a better place to be.

Be afraid.
Be very afraid.
/EDIT
Hey Cheyenne we posted at exactly the same time.
EDIT/
Striek:
Well Gentoo, Red Hat, Suse, FreeBSD, Mandrake I got when I purchased some linux format magazines. the Rest of them I downloaded today. I started early, and since I have broadband, it goes pretty fast.
Updating them can be a hassle though. I usually take out a weekend every 3 months or so to update all my nonessential software and burn new OSes. If I had that many to worry about, it would take a whole week. I just keep Redhat, Slackware and Knoppix up to date here.
hey people, go to the unix forum, here we talk about non-sense.
Who likes eggs?
Basically what I'm trying to do right now, is get comfortable with *nix. I can navigate around the GUI pretty good, but I'm not to familiar with the terminal yet. So I'll probably be doing a lot of manual things so I can learn the ropes. So far though RH 9.0 and Suse are pretty easy to use.
Hey, this is GCC! We can talk about anything we want here! But anyway...
Eating them or cooking them?
I like eating them. But I can't cook them for ****. 24 years old and can't boil an egg. Seriously, I have placed 2 eggs in the same pot for the same length of time, taken them out at the same time, only to find one hardboiled and the other softboiled. My scrambled eggs become omlettes because I forget to scramble them, and my omlettes become scrambled eggs because I fuxor them up. My fried eggs go over easy when I want sunny side up because I break the yolk, and my over easy eggs end up sunny side up because I forget to flip them. I tried poached egges once and I ended up with this weird boiled omlette cause it all broke apart on me. I even tried devilled eggs once and ended up with egg salad because I mixed the whites too. And once when I tried to make egg salad for lunches, I forgot to mix the whites and wound up with deviled eggs instead.
I can't cook eggs for ****. But the funny thing is that I always end up loving the eggs I cook. I just never know what I'm gonna end up wioth when I start.
Man there are a lot of ways to make eggs.

Anybody here tried www.try2hack.nl?
I'm stuck on level 5, and I think I kind of cheated on 3 and 4. No, I dodn't find the solution online, so I guess I didn't *really* cheat, but I think I found a way far easier than was intended.
