(that's nonsensical fluff, but you can garner meaning from it I suppose...))

It ain't all technical, ain't all security, but it helps build community amongst the members (read as: Core membership increasing, a good thing).

Thank you for not sending me your deleted spam. I have enough to delete and contend with on my other forum, although merges and prunings are rare there.

Now back to the topic. I appear to be the only one making suggestions at this moment. Gore, Nihil, JPNyc, how about what you personally would like to see here? I realize you're on the Jup side of the fence by virtue of your moderator (and admin, respectively) positions, but in a thread such as this, politics should be put aside completely and honest individual opinions and constructive suggestions welcomed...

Well I'm not a security specialist, I'm a web developer, so as far as topics are concerned that's up to you guys and the editorial staff.

As far as how the forum is run, what I would like to see is the reputations go bye-bye, and just a modest amount of civility on the part of all parties concerned, including from myself and the crew. I'm not saying I'm trying to turn it into "Dr. Phil" (puke), but it can't be a Rap special, either.

That was some of mine, and I'm still thinking in between doing stuff I have to get done today.

One idea might be AO mail, that would be cool if we could get some ads to provide that the way google does, but some members would probably not like that and say use Gmail... even [email protected] does have a way cooler ending.

We could have some of our members do interviews with known people in the field, or something similar.

Some code monkeys could be hired to write a firewall or other protect yourself type thing and market the hell out of it.

We could set up a live honeypot for members to watch who's trying to break in, how they're doing it, and what they should have tried or guessing why they tried something.... Which would of course REALLY drag out some discussion on how breaks ins work.

Now that honeypot intrigues me. I'd dearly love to see a crack realtime - and an analysis of who tried what, what worked, and what failed, and the why's to both, and what could've been done to tighten the system.

I also like the email thing - |[email protected] does have a certain appeal :) This would involve a large amount of resources though depending on how much space you'd allocate to your membership (perhaps this could be one of those cool 'reward' thingies?)

Hmmm... codemonkeys and firewalls. Why hire 'em? We've got coders here in the membership, they're lurking just under the surface. Perhaps an AO challenge is in order - combine it with the honeypot. Coder (or team of coders) develop a firewall, it gets stuck onto the honeypot and field tested. Unpenetrated winners get a cool reward plus his name and software featured (and sold by JupM to the public on his behalf, x% royalties to the coder(s))...

I'd like to see some dll injection techniques explained. And examples. Just because i will dig through RFC's doesn't mead that I enjoy it!

JP The corporate lawyer accountability stuff - that's a cop out. If AO can't be know as a hacker site, someones got a lot of work to do. This is one tiny forum in the universe of jupmedia. Let the lawyers have the rest of the sites, leave AO alone.

And while your at it - how bout setting up a streaming media server for us. Something off shore, say next to the Pirate Bay.

There is illegal, and stupid lawyers. Know the difference.

No chance of that. The company wants nothing to do with a hacking site, and no reputable company in the world, would. Oh, security software companies may HIRE 'em to test out their solutions, but none of em run "how to hack" forums.
