Hey Hey,
I'm not sure... but 1.8 doesn't seem overly impressive to me..
I just ran a test on bandwidthplace.com and the results were
Quote:
2.4 megabits per second
Communications 2.4 megabits per second
Storage 293.4 kilobytes per second
1MB file download 3.5 seconds
Subjective rating Great
I personally wasn't overly impressed with that..
When you get a 700K download at home.. if that's 700K on the IE or Firefox download bar that's 700KB not Kb... bytes... not bits..
So for comparison sake.. I just ran a test on dslreports
Quote:
dslreports.com speed test result on 2006-04-10 01:42:43 EST:
1074 / 573
Your download speed : 1074 kbps or 134.2 KB/sec.
That is 69% worse than an average user on rogers.com
Your upload speed : 573 kbps or 71.7 KB/sec.
That is 9.7% better than an average user on rogers.com
As you can see the speed is much lower... nothing has changed except the server I'm testing against... I'm going to run a third before I post this.. (not that it matters to you... you'll see them all at once)
Another DSL Reports test using a different server

CNet Bandwidth Test

Next was PCPitStop which gave me great scores

As you can see speeds can vary... My connection is supposed to be 5Mb/600Kb (I believe... the 5Mb is definately just not sure on the actual upload)

Speed Meter
Your bandwidth was clocked at
3.84 Mbps
And now to prove that speeds vary... I justdownloaded Defender Beta 2 from microsoft.com (since the download link was on the main page)... I hit over 2000KB/s (Yes that's bytes.. not bits)... with high speed it's all relative to the server you're accessing..
Peace
