Just a brief hello. I had an account on here a few years back but I can't remember my login details, so we start a-new :)

My name is John, I typically alias as penfold or dlofnep on security related forums. I'm a 24 year application design student from Ireland - I typically work with Java.

I've been very keen on security for many years, although I must admit - I have been very much out of the loop over the past few years. The growth and development of Linux has been very impressive. The competition and improvement of driver support has been great. All these new Live CD's are also very convenient.

I downloaded a copy of Backtrack last night to catch back up - the software bundle is really good. I also noticed a huge increase in web-app hacking over the past few years so I'll have to bring myself up to scratch.

I can't say I'm an expert in any field, but I'm certainly willing to read up and get back to grips with things.
