Quad core its mother board and electricity bill

Hey guyz how are you all..

i had been busy for a long time

but i have some questions with you poeple please help me

i am planning to a buy a whole new PC and i am considering electricity bill as a problem in it

i am planning to a quadcore intel chip and the best compactible mother board with it 512 GB hard disc and to compare with 4 GB of DDR2 ram

now my worry is that poeple are telling me that quad core and its compactible mother board will consume double the electricity then core2duo and the compactible mother board

can any one give me a little help here and explain me the fact please i m helpless and you guyz are the only one i can trust

If your planning on leaving the new system left turned on 24hours a day 7days a week then yeah it will use more power.

But if you are only going to use it, and shut it off then it shouldn't use that much power.

bcoz as when i go to the retail shop they give me all different suggestion in different shops

Its really preference, I ALWAYS build with Asus but other people love Gigabyte, Abit, and MSI.

Remember that it is the whole system that consumes power, not just the processor, and that the amount is quite different between standby and full load.

Please check out the product reviews tab................as oofki suggests, there doesn't seem to be much difference between motherboards. Personally I use Gigabyte or Asus.

For a similar FSB speed, different boards from the quality manufacturers will be within a few percent of eachother. I guess I would look at RAM, graphics and HDD performance first.

Remember, this is a highly competitive market, so you are unlikely to see significant performance differences between similarly priced compatible boards. :)

What brand of processor are you planning on buying? :confused:

I suppose the argument would lie somewhere between Intel and AMD ....

I have been a long time fan of AMD however, have not used an AMD PC in a number of years. During that time it has been Intel all the way, and I would have difficulty faulting my experience with Intel.

I am no expert on the fine details of processors however, if anyone has strong point of view or advice/opinion on this subject, lets discuss it :!

Well CTO, this is how I see it right now:

1. Intel are top dogs with their 45nm technology............. I think........... their top chip for us mere mortals is about $1,250?

2. AMD are firmly competing in the mid to mid-upper quartile.

3. AMD had a lot of technical problems with their quad core architecture, but I am going for a Phenom X4 9950 BE I guess they are running at $174 (USD) at NewEgg these days?

4. Otherwise I think that the somewhat older Intel Core2 Quad 6600 is a good value buy.

5. Buy two and just overclock them :D two are cheaper than the latest stuff ;)
