I heard on the radio today that Symantec and McAfee have already posted updates on their pages to deal with this one.

Ouroboros, yes both Symantec & McAfee has posted AV updates for the virus/worm.. I was only posting it as an interest item, as shown to us by Nimda & Code Red although the updates are available, many users haven't got them...
I'm one of the paranoid ones.. I update my Antivirus software everyday and scan it every morning and on boot....
I'm almost as paranoid... I scan every night at 10:00 and update every friday.
I have to update allmost every day, this is madness. Where is the world coming to?

We got a copy of it emailed to us yesterday. Fortunately, everyone here is learning not to run attachments. Even though the av programs didn't see it, the end user was suspicious of it, and sent it to me instead of opening it. I have running it just for fun, but gotta set up a mahine off my network first.
Can you send it to me in a password protected ZIP file (with the password, obviously) carefully labelled so that i know what it is:

Just checked one of my email accounts and had this McAfee dispatch.. *wonders when he was silly enough to sign up to it*

W32/Goner@MM, also known as Pentagone, Goner or Gone. This
is a NEW, HIGH RISK virus that spreads via Microsoft Outlook
email and ICQ instantmessaging programs. This mass-mailing
worm will arrive from someone you know with the following
email message:
Subject: Hi
Body: How are you ?
When I saw this screen saver, I immediately thought about you
I am in a harry, I promise you will love it!
Attachment: GONE.SCR
Goner has a DESTRUCTIVE PAYLOAD. When the attachment is
opened, it will look for a variety of anti-virus, firewall
and other security programs and attempt to delete them,
along with ALL FILES in the same directory. This worm
will also place a trojan, REMOTE32.INI, on the system, which
contains instructions to attempt Denial-of-Service attacks
on other IRC users.

Those worms get my bloodpressure unstable
I don't use Outlook (I NEVER will) but some users on my internal network use that evil M$ thing so I have to reboot my internetgateway box a couple of times a week, cause some win2k machine on the network always get infected with the newest worm and sends requests to the gateway that it can't handle (and then the thing wouldn't let these evil Win2k boxes get connected). The people behind it couldn't surf the net and point at me but I should point at them. So the whole thing gets stressed up. Thank you worms!
So people who make these worms: stop; I'am to young to come to an end due to a hartdisease or stress thing.

hmmm i must admit.. the work and the design of the virus is quite impressive.. how it takes out the the security programs and leave the computer wide open for further attacks..
and im sure hell am curious on what the codes are.. if anyone here has the codes for that worm.. well show it to me so i can see and study how that damn thing works.. atleast i might be able to explain it to the public so they dont have to be paranoid over some uncertainty..
and im sure none of us would or should get paranoid about this coz we all know better that we shouldnt open any file which has an .src extension even though they say it's Jessica Alba's porn video/pic.. heheh
