How about a bump down button? It would come in real handy when someone makes 3 threads about the same issue or makes a real stupid thread. You could also implement access restrictions to prevent abuse. How about you must have 100 antipoints or something like that to use both of the "bump" features. That would keep stupid threads from being bumped up also.
I think it's a good idea, but it would be _very_ easy to abuse if someone disliked someone else personally.
I like it, but as you guys already said it would raise abuse level to a all new high.
I dont even think basing it on AntiPoints is a good idea because even some people that are popular have some enemies...

...hmmm...just thinking - what if you had to reply when bumping down? For example, if someone posts 'how do I hack hotmail', you select BUMP DOWN, with the reply 'this is totally not the question to post on this site' - or something similar. That way, if someone bumps down without giving a good reason (such as leaving the field blank or writing 'I don't like you') users can see that he/she bumped down without a genuine reason, and hand out some negative antipoints.
Anyways, that's just a thought of how one of its problems could be tackled. Any other ideas?

Nice idea, but it would probably need something like... oh... only people with more than X posts, X time on the forum, and X antipoints could do it, and even then you'd need three people...
Then again, bump HOW far down? Up is easy, up is NOW, down is whenever the very first thread was posted on a forum :) Maybe bumping it down five or ten thread slots...
I think bumping it off the front page would acheive the desired result :P

how about bumping down is a part of your 'seniority' at AntiOnline. I've heard that when you 'bumpup' then it stays at the top for about five hours. Now, bumping down is a totally different approach. We can't bump down then have it back up again,...for then the goal that we wanted to acheive would be lost - but thats the point here, so lets work with what we've got. I suggest a different approach.
Ex. 1
- BadPost at front page
- AntiHaxor with his legions of little leprechauns trying to steal his pot of positive AntiPoints Bumps it down.
- Thus taking it down permanently or for about a day or so. (Maybe until a respected member replies?)
Ex. 2
- BadPost on main page
- NobleHamlet with his disgusting amount of negative or low AntiPoints Bumps it down.
- Huh? What happened? Either nothing, or after 10 minutes its back up again....hmmmm.

Is it just me or does anyone else see that nobody seems to take threads seriously anymore?
I wonder... What if antipoints were only give-able with a drop-down menu of reasons, and no free text? Just a what-if? I hardly ever sign my name to any of the antipoints I give out anyway.
What if the "Bump down!" (off the main page) activated if three members (perhaps older than newbies) had clicked it? There would be no sign if it has been clicked already, and if the user thinks afterwards thinks he doesn't want it to drop, he could hit "Bump up!" to take his voice back.
Hey, good idea ZeroOne - that means that not one stupid person could bring good threads down. Good thinking.
