I dont know about "seriously loving security". I;m seriously interested in it. hmmm...I guess this interest comes from a paranoia that I am eventually going to get into some kinda trouble if I dont arm myself with as much security knowledge as possible.
When I first came to this site, it was because I wanted to hack. But as I read more about hacking, I decided that it wasn't really something to do. I stay here cause it's a decent online community and I suppose I'm something of a computer geek.

when i first came to the site... i was looking to be a hacker .. or @ least some of this ****.
but when i post my first thread ... the usual ****in post .... like
how can i hack bla bla ....
and, lucky me .. didn't get flamed then wow !!!
and i had allots of answers for this one...
that was a day .. now i'm interested in security or Antihacking lol.
so i might check two boxes ( hacler , as a begining .... and security as for now )

I come to this site because "I am a Cracker"! I've been through the whole newbie stage the script kiddy stage and I tryed the hacking stage as well but I only want to be a cracker not a hacker there's difference.. These members at antionline.com Most of these members know their stuff like JP TERR Remote Access I am a Cracker Darkside P2P Victor knows, and Ennis knows his **** ETC.. If you go to sites like www.hackers.com or www.neworder.box.sk it's mostly full of "§©®1þ± K1ddÿ'§" Posts like "I found an ip now what" or my favorite "How do I hack can you teach me" here at this site you really don't get bull shizzzzzz-nitttt like that!

Well like most I don’t feel I fit into any of the poll categories, why did I come here personally? To cut a long story short I had the box on a desk, this box did lots of cleaver little tricks I could play games, could write my work out on it, could surf the net, I played around doing this and that to it seeing how many ways I could stop it working and then get it going again. I was constantly doing horrible things to my comp, broke most of he rules for keeping a system up and running but every time quested to fix it. I noticed that I had more computer expertise than most of my mates, I helped them out with there comps, sorting out there problems learning about different systems, one day I realised that I was stuck at a level of knowledge that no longer would just reading the manuals to try to work out ways to kill my system worked. I needed to take the next step. I needed to really go into understanding computers themselves not just the systems and programs I used. Looking around the net I found this site spent hours reading though posts learning what I could. Now I this site it really interests me, I enjoy most posts, a lot of time something is posted about that I don’t fully understand but in the post is all what you need to go off research read learn then come back to the post and understand it. The more tmie I spend on this site the greater my interest in this field of computers. So I come here to learn and read very informative posts that make me think and question my understanding of computers, to help my evolve my computer knowledge.

I come here because I am interested in networking and security, but
because of a head trauma I sustained at age 22, I have a learning
disability. I have problems with comprehension, spelling, and
writing. I have a big thirst for knowledge, so I read the posts
and tutorials hoping to get my fix.
Here because as a programmer I need to know more than what I actually do. It's sad really, how little I know about security. After installing a firewall then actually seeing how many times I got pinged and my ports got scanned I realized I really need to know more about this stuff.
So teach me, great minds!
I Like the site so far because everyone seems so real, and they're so willing to share and help.

I came by accident and stayed because it was a place where my questions on security were answered. Most around where I live think a fire wall is something around their outdoor fire pits. :)
Intelligent, opinionated people that like computing. What more can someone ask for. Not a day goes bye that I don’t learn something from someone. I find im more on top of security issues than I was before, moreso that others where i work. Can’t say that I’ve learned any ‘tricks’ I didn’t already know but I have found a few good ‘security’ programs and sites.

i frequented this site for maybe a year before i became an actual member. i read about this place in a security book and was instantly interested in joining a community of people with the same interests as me.
i have to admit i'm a little dissapointed in the "quality" of posts lately...i didn't join to listen hear reasons drugs should be legel or the best way to start up a porn site, but there are many many intellegent people here that keep me coming back.
I first heard of this site when reading an article in _Newsweek_. I came here, and decided to stick around because intelligent conversation seemed to be in the offing. I don't often post to the board itself.....but I'm always on the IRC channel (especially recently), which I rather like.

i got into this site after my teacher told me about it
i was in a+ class and he said this would be a good site to look at and boy was he right
i have to admit i have made posts that really were not relevant to the site
but i put the threads were they are supposed to be and i believe they are thought provoking
debates but any way i have just started sem 3 in cisco networking and plan to build my career in network security so what better way to do it than here
i have found in most cases poepl here are truly dedicated in helping others (or want to display their superior skills) needless to say they help
i just hope i can return the favor

I came here bec. of a research I was working on at work. The project was through, but I stayed because:
1) I met interesting people here. I met people who later became my good friends and not just mere acquintance. I learned a lot from them, not only on technical related stuff, but also about life as a whole.
2) The site has a rich archive of information. The other exciting part is the dynamic everyday exchange of information going on in the forums.

Well, I had just hung around for a long time. So I decided to jion one day. Now I can't get away. I have been brain washed by AO. So I am officialy hooked. The people here are a very interesting and diverse group in age and skills. So you can learn allot or help someone else learn a thing or two. I've been in puters a long time, and I still learn new things on this board. So it's an invaluable tool for anyone that wants to learn.
I come here to learn all I can about anything and everything. Also, I try not to take any **** from anyone. :2pick:

i persoally came here to right a report on hackers, and i got addicted to security
I came looking for information to help me learn more about hacking but I stayed because not only is this one of the best layouts for a information site I've ever seen, but the content is great and phun to look through (like my grandmothers attic) and the board is the best ever created. If I wasn't interested in what this site was put up for I think that I would have come back every once and a while to see the updates.
To learn more about security and all issues relating to it. Nice bunch of people to learn from as well.

Actually, like others before me when I was on a search for information about security and such way back when (oh my! Have I been online that LONG?!!? Hrmmm.. I think I need sleep) I found AO and at first wasn't sure. But when I got to know people in the chat specifically and then more when I began posting online I found that this is a wellspring that never seems to dry up. ;)
I came here because I didnt have the money to pay for tech support. LOL But really I came here sometime ago. I had a thing for security and there was alot going on here and the post back then where very informative. I enjoy reading the posts and trying to give helpful insite with the different issues that arise. Going to be asking alot of questions come july ( thats when I start collage for Networking) going to get (edumacted) LOL.
