Eh, between opera settings and the proxomitron, I almost feel sorry for ads that try to violate my screen.

Yes, I totally agree. There is was more 'joining' and 'quitting' messages then there is actually chatting. I'd say it out-numbers it about 3:1. :(

I have to agree, I don't like this at all. I hit the boards randomly during the day and do not want to have to close out the chat window every time. Yeah, I know it's just a click but it's annoying I think.

The worst part is, the pop up gave me a "server not found" error.

Honestly, I didn't even notice the popup until I read this thread. They stayed under my main window, and my taskbar is on auto-hide.
I'm sorry if anyone tried to talk to me when I signed on.

JP, If you are reading this, how about just add an option to our member settings where we can choose if we want the chat to automatically open or not. This way for those that don't chat the popup won't annoy them, and for those that always chat it will automatically open for them. Just an idea, because pop-ups are annoying as hell, especially when you are at work. :)

Well really, i don't think that JP is this type of guy System_Overload. I think that he made this forum-site for our protection and to help us to learn more.

Well, since it doesn't look like anything is being explained....From my understand, the popup is only going to be around for a few days (up to a week). The whole point is, so that more people will actually test out the chat room, and IRC. There are a lot of people like jared-c, that don't chat, but there are alos a lot of people who never have. There are times when the channel is really boiring, and I think its all about getting people to try something new.

Anyway, it still sucks.

Seems like there are alot of whiners at antionline? But maybe it's just me.

Pop-up would be good if we were allowed to choose whether we want it to come or not... And for guests the pop-up should never come.

Well, the pop-up itself doesn't bother me, it's all the Guests in and out all the time....it makes it very hard to keep up with conversations going on when they are constantly being interrupted by people entering and leaving all the time.... :(

I'm not going to let some lame pop up slow me down.

Well for some reason the pop up crashes my browser every time. Oh well, if I close it it'll be fine. I like the idea about guests not getting pop ups because they do annoy the channel.

So possible four improvements:
1. Pop-up disabled by default - user can enable it under "my preferences" it they want
2. pop-up should never "invite" guests
3. pop-up should first ask if the user wants to join the channel
4. pop-up should be resizable

no the idea is good badly implemented i think jp should have a list of regulars and they have the option of turning it off etc but jp your still evil cause i dont have a pirate flag hehe
